Through glass doors and past a trophy tiger she strides in on long legs, a Golden Delicious loosely in hand. Her futurist backpack falls between homemade boots and from it she pulls pocketknife, notebook and telephone, arranged quickly now on the chrome bar before her. She smiles and I take in at once the battle of brown hair, pink serious doll-mouth, theatrical eyebrows over squint-eyes flashing light everywhere, tight black dress, tighter silver disco belt and beat-up ringless fingers. Then she begins her story:

Birth under the shadow of a sailboat bigger than the house, in the far North of California, a little faux-Eskimo "Baby Girl", who has to wait before being given her real name: "La Brisa Day Roché". A young artist mother who jogs the sand dunes carrying a tiny pistol and improvises songs like a constant domestic soundtrack. Writer-father, mysterious and very hero, at ease with the dangers of sea, city, road and mountain... He takes child-Brisa on "business" trips-- hiding from helicopters and sleeping on tropical beaches, visiting tipis and gold-mine camps, the 'Stones on ghetto blasters and van-radios, the Blues on record players of countless urban apartments. Her ear absorbs these sounds, and those of her mother's folk albums and improvisation, developing to the harmonies of the local children's choir as well, with which she tours Russia and Romania as a young teen.

At 16, Brisa leaves her mother's mountain cabin for her father, in Seattle. It's the peak of Grunge, but his death prevents her from participating. Instead she writes intense, lyrical songs in relative isolation, and plays acoustic guitar. She finishes highschool as a live-in nanny, practising with her band, "The Amazing Dimestore" in after-hours movie theatres, and playing weekends on her own at the public market.
18, in Paris, Brisa forms a "roots" trio and loves CAN, Joni Mitchell and PJ Harvey. A year passes and now at Reed College in the States, the longing for a band haunts her. She puts up notices, switches to electric guitar, and does vocals for an EMO group called "Bing Ra", which leaves her as unfulfilled as do her studies. In her native town again, frustrated by fruitless collaboration, Brisa swears off music. Then, to her surprise, finds herself singing standards each night on bike rides home through the fields. Curious and drawn to challenge, she decides to give jazz a shot.

Love, in the form of a punk rock bassist from New Mexico. With him, in the desert, she discovers monsoon season and continues pursuing her private vision of jazz. Here, Brisa interrupts herself, laughing like falling water, "Isn't that love, anyway? The desert, the monsoon, the Wild West?!" Her blue-green eyes and pale skin, her particular story-telling... I can picture her singing and am transported. Romance's brutal end pushes her back to Paris ("As far away as possible!"), where she dives into jazz as a way of life. Her voice, gestures, and ninja-queen stage presence quickly attract the eye of the media, and in 2005 she signs an artist's contract with Blue Note.
Brisa picks up her pen and makes a list of words describing her record-project, due out this fall. She writes:
CINEMATIC/INTIMATE/GENEROUS/SIXTIES'/FEMININE/GRANDIOSE/ROCK N ROLL and tells me how she plays her own compositions live again, how her "Destroyer" guitar still feels fresh under her touch. At the New Morning, a week later, I see her with a bare-bones band. I am overwhelmed. The grain of her voice moves between purity, emotion and velvet. Her arms fly, she makes faces under a crown of star-aimed revolvers, sings from the side of her mouth like Elvis. Brisa is relaxed and glowing, intense... magnificent, and we in the audience believe she loves us. Her guitar growls, her voice soars... We love her too.

Soothe Me

Glad to be unhappy

( Rodgers/Hart )

Fools rush in and here I am
Very glad to be unhappy
I can't win but here I am
More, more, more than glad to be unhappy

Unrequited loves a bore
And I've got it pretty bad
But for someone you adore
It's a pleasure to be sad

Like a straying baby lamb
With no mummy and no pappy
I'm so unhappy, happy, happy
But I'm oh, so glad

Unrequited love's a bore
And I've got it pretty bad
But for someone you adore
It's a pleasure to be sad

Like a straying baby lamb
With no mummy and no pappy
I'm so unhappy, happy, happy, happy
But I'm oh, so
I'm oh, so glad

Melancholy lullaby

( Edward Heyman/Benny Carter )

Melancholy lullaby
Flying from a trouble sky
Ringing through the clinging vine
Right into this heart of mine

Melancholy lullaby
Listen, listen, listen to the nightwind sigh
How can I expect to sleep
When I lay me down to weep

Your love has cooled
From flame, flame to ice
And I’ve been fooled
Into a fool’s paradise, hear, hear, hear

Hear the rhythm of the rain
Beating on my window pane
Wish that I could say goodbye
To my melancholy lullaby

Your love has cooled
From flame, flame to ice
And I’ve been fooled, fooled
Into a fool’s paradise, hear, hear, hear

Hear the rhythm of the rain
Beating on my window pane
Wish that I could say goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
To my melancholy lullaby
Melancholy lullaby

I hear music

( Burton Lane / Frank Loesser - St Germain des pres café Vol. 5 )

I hear music
Mighty fine music
The murmur of a morning breeze up there
The rattle of the milkman on the stair

Sure, sure, sure, sure that's music
Mighty fine music
The singing of a sparrow in the sky
The perking of the coffee right near by

There's, there's my favorite melody
You, my angel, phoning me
I hear music
Mighty fine music
And anytime I think my world is wrong
I get me out of bed and sing this song

I hear music
Mighty fine music
The singing of a sparrow in the sky
The perking of the coffee right near by
Sure, sure that's music
Mighty fine music
The murmur of a morning breeze up there
The rattle of the milkman on the stair

There's, there's my favorite melody
You my angel, phoning me
I hear music
Mighty fine music
And anytime I think my world is wrong
I get me out of bed and sing this song

Soothe me

( Frank Loesser )

Soothe me, baby, soothe me
Make me feel so good
Way down inside

Soothe me, baby, soothe me
Mellow me, daddy, daddy, daddy...
Way down inside

Make your kisses like the honey
From the bee
Love me till I'm numb with esctasy

Soothe me, baby, soothe me
Make me feel good
Way down inside

Make your kisses like the honey
From the bee
Love me till I'm numb with esctasy

Soothe me, baby, soothe me
Make me feel good
Way down inside
Way down inside

Black Coffee

( Webster/Burke )

I'm feeling mighty lonesome
Haven't slept a week
I walk the floor and watch that door
And in between I drink
Black, black, black, black coffee
Since the blues caught my eye
I'm hanging out on Monday
My Sunday, sunday, sunday dreams to dry

I'm talking to the shadows
From one o'clock til four
And Lord, how slow the moments go
When all I do is pour
Black, black coffee
Love's a hand me down brew
I've never know a Sunday
In this weekday, weekday, weekday, weekday room

Now a man is born to go a lovin', lovin'...
A woman's born to weep and fret
And stay at home and tend her oven
And drown her past regrets
In coffee and cigarettes, cigarettes, cigarettes

I'm moaning all the morning
And mourning all the night
And in between it's nicotine
And not much heart to fight
Black coffee
Feelin' low as the ground
It's driving me crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy
Just waiting for my baby
To someday maybe, someday maybe come around

My nerves have gone to pieces
My hair is turning gray
All I do is drink black coffee
Since my man's gone away

Now a man is born to go a lovin', lovin'...
A woman's born to weep and fret
And stay at home and tend her oven
And drown her past regrets
In coffee and cigarettes, cigarettes, cigarettes

I'm moaning all the morning
And mourning all the night
And in between it's nicotine
And not much heart to fight
Black coffee
Feelin' low as the ground
It's driving me crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy
Just waiting for my baby
To someday maybe, someday maybe, baby come around
Come around, baby come around
Come around, baby come around
Come around, come around

Azure interlude

( Ellington Duke )

Drifting, dreaming
In an azure mood
Stardust, stardust gleaming
Through my solitude
Here in my seclusion
You're a blue illusion
While I'm drifting in an azure mood
I'm not wanted
I'm so all alone
Always haunted
By the dreams I own
But, though I'm tormented
I must be contented

Drifting, dreaming
In an azure mood

Drifting, dreaming
In an azure mood
Stardust gleaming
Through my solitude
Here in my seclusion
You're a blue illusion
While I'm dreaming an azure mood

Drifting, dreaming
In an azure mood

Gloomy sunday

( Rezső Seress )

Gloomy is sunday
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never never awaken you
Not where the black coach
Of sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thoughts
Of ever ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday
In shadows, shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
But let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressing you, caressing you, caressing you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessing you

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart here
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is telling you
How much, how much, how much I wanted you

Gloomy, gloomy, gloomy, gloomy Sunday

Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams

( Ted Koehler, Billy Moll & Harry Barris )

When skies are cloudy and gray
They're only gray for a day
So wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away

Until that sunshine peeps through
There's only one thing to do
Just wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away

Your castles may tumble, that's Fate after all
Life's really funny that way, ah!
No use to grumble, just smile as they fall
Weren't you King for a day? Say!

Just remember that sunshine
Always follows the rain, ah!
So wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away

When skies are cloudy and gray
They're only gray for a day
So wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away

Until that sunshine peeps through
There's only one thing to do
Just wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away

Your castles may tumble, that's Fate after all
Life's really funny that way, ah ah!
No use to grumble, just smile as they fall
Weren't you King for a day? Say!

Just remember that sunshine
Always follows the rain
Wrap your troubles in dreams
And dream your troubles away

Oh, You Crazy Moon

( Burke/Van Heusen )

When they met
The way they smiled
I saw that I was through
Oh, you crazy moon
What did you do

When they kissed
They tried to say that
It was just in fun
Oh, you crazy moon
Look what you've done

Once you promised me, you know
That it would never, never, never, never end
You should be ashamed to show
Your funny, funny, funny face my friend

There, there, there, they are
They fell in love
I guess you think you're smart
Oh, you crazy moon
You broke my heart

I Get Along Without You Very Well

( Hoagy carmichael )

I get along without you very well
Of course, of course, of course, of course I do
Except when soft rains fall
And drip from leaves then I recall
The thrill of being sheltered in your arms
Of course, of course, of course I do
But I get along without you very well

I've forgotten you just like I should
Of course, of course, of course, of course I have
Except to hear your name
Or someone's laugh that is the same
But I've forgotten you just like I should

What a guy
What a fool am I
To think my breaking heart
Could kid the moon
What's in store
Should I fall once more
No, it's best that I stick to my tune

I get along without you very well
Of course, of course, of course I do
Except perhaps in spring
But I should never think of spring
For that would surely break my heart in two
Break my heart in two

It's Like Reaching For The Moon

( Sherman / lewis / marqusee )

It's like reaching for the moon
It's like reaching for the stars
It's like reaching, reaching, reaching for the sun
Reaching for you

You're so far, far, far, far above me
How can I expect an angel to love me
Who is so divine as you are

It's like flying without wings
Playing fiddle with no strings
And a million other things
No one can do
Though my hopes are slender
In my secret heart I pray you'll surrender soon
Though, it's like reaching for the moon

It's like reaching for the moon
It's like reaching for the stars
It's like reaching, reaching, reaching for the sun
Reaching for you

You're so far above me
How can I expect an angel to love me
Who is so divine as you are

It's like flying without wings
Playing fiddle with no strings
And a million other things
No one can do
Though my hopes are slender
In my secret heart I pray that you'll surrender soon
Though, it's like reaching, reaching for the moon

So Tired

( Russ Morgan )

I'm so tired of waiting for you
I'm so tired of longing for you
Tired of waiting
Saving my love, my love, my love for you

I'm so tired of only daydreams
I'm so tired, so tired of only play schemes
Why don’t you call me
Call me tonight my dear

Come on, come on, come on and tell me
That your thoughts are all of me sweetheart, sweetheart
For all day long I wonder why
We’re far, far, far, far apart

I'm so tired of longing for you
I'm so tired, so tired of waiting for you
But though I’m tired
I’ll wait forever dear

Come on and tell me
That your thoughts are all of me sweetheart
For all day long I wonder why
We’re far, far apart

I'm so tired of waiting for you
I'm so tired of longing, longing for you
But though I’m tired
I’ll wait forever
I’ll wait forever dear

Jim

( N. Shawn / C. Petrillo / E. Ross / M. Samuels )

Jim doesn't ever bring me pretty, pretty flowers
Jim never tries to cheer my lonely hours
I don't know why I'm so crazy, crazy, crazy for Jim

Jim never, bever, never tells me I'm his heart's desire
I never seem to set his love on fire
Gone, gone are the years I have wasted on him

Sometimes when I get feelin' low
I say, I say let's call it quits, quits, quits, quits
Then I hang on and let him go
Breakin', breakin', breakin' my heart in bits

Someday, someday, someday, someday I know
That Jim will up and leave me
But even when he does you can believe me
I'll go on carrying, carrying the torch for my Jim

Sometimes when I get feelin' low
I say, I say let's call it quits, quits, quits, quits
Then I hang on and let him go
Breakin', breakin', breakin', breakin' my heart in bits

Someday, someday, someday I know
I know that Jim will up and leave me
But even when he does you can believe me
I'll go on carrying, carrying, carrying the torch for my Jim
My Jim, my Jim, my Jim

The Chase

Airplane

Airplane pushes up through clouds
Through violet sinking sun
Pushing up through rose my love
Held on me like a gun

They put me in the sky
It’s for my guy, it’s for my guy
This penitence of flight
This contraband and sigh

Now I run from silver plane
Runnin’ from my lover’s aim
They’ll try now to lock me down
In this sunset gown

They put me in the sky
It’s for my guy, it’s for my guy
This penitence of flight
This contraband and sigh

Here I lie
Here I lie
Here I lie

Mystery Man

I know I mesmerize you baby
Like the robbers do the cop
But hush I’m not the girl for you
A robber like me you should drop

Hush hush I can’t help it
If on every second night
I’m out to hunt some mystery
Although your arms feel right

Mystery, man, mystery man oh man
Drop me now pretty baby if you can
Mystery, man, mystery man oh man
Drop me now pretty baby if you can
If you can

You know I like to kiss your whiskey lips
Go straight to the vein
But I’ll be out for mystery
Just the same

Hush hush violet evening
With the town laid out like jewels
Leave me now as I cha-cha-cha
Go now or be my fool

Mystery, man, mystery man oh man
Drop me now pretty baby if you can
Mystery, man, mystery man oh man
Drop me now pretty baby if you can
If you can, if you can

Dans Le Vert De Ses Yeux

Dans le vert de ses yeux
Il y avait d’autres terres
Dans l’immense clairière
Des châteaux fabuleux
Et rien n’était chimère
Dans le vert de ses yeux

Dans le vert de ses yeux
Il y avait l’espérance
Un jour je m’en souviens
Elle m’invita sans méfiance
Au pays qui est le sien
Au pays de ses yeux

Elle marchait devant moi
Elle sautait légère
Sur le sentier étroit
Qui bordait la bruyère
Mais chacun de mes pas
Faisait crouler la terre

Un abîme s’est creusé
Dans le vert de ses yeux
Et sans même un adieu
Je la vis s’éloigner
Et plus je l’appelais
Et plus je la perdais

J’ai perdu mon amour
Dans un pays d’amour
Et j’ai cherché en vain
Pour retrouver le chemin
Qui mène sous d’autres cieux
Au pays de ses yeux

Billionaire

You’re a billionaire
I’m a billionaire
Holy oxygen
Wipes away our cares

You’re a billionaire

With the gorgeous wind
In our tangled hair

Knock me out, knock me out, clean out
Blow my mind
Make me make me shout
Shout, shout, shout, shout, shout
You’re a

You’re a billionaire
I’m a billionaire
With our open kiss
On the lightest air

You’re a billionaire
I’m a billionaire
We could float away
If we only dare

Knock me out, knock me out, clean out
Blow my mind
Make me make me shout
Shout, shout, shout, shout, shout, shout

You’re a billionaire
I’m a billionaire
We could float away
If we only dare

Warned

When I’m travelling far
In a boat or in a car
I just cannot forget
How I’m not with you yet

When I’m mixing with stars
I’m aware of where you are
I can talk a pretty storm
But just your smile is oh so warm

When I’m making up rhymes
I pick words I can climb
Just like stairs to your eyes
But all my words sound like sighs

When I’m dreaming at night
I can fly and I can fight
But in my dreams it’s you I seek you
And the flower of your cheek

I’m warned, but I can’t stop
I’m warned, but I can’t stop
I’m warned, but I can’t stop
I’m warned, but I can’t stop

When I’m starting a brawl
I jump fast and I might crawl
In the brawls I’d have with you
I’d do something sweeter too

When I’m singing alone
Off the cliffs or on the phone
I sing songs just made for you
And I plan wars just for two

I’m warned, but I can’t stop
I’m warned, but I can’t stop
I’m warned, but I can’t stop
I’m warned, but I can’t stop

When I’m teetering high
Feel your touch upon my thigh
Pull the blankets down please
For baby I am on my knees

Other girls imagine this
To be healed with just a kiss
But I want to heal you too
So let me heal you through and through

Little Robot

All wrong
For you I’m all wrong
Far gone
On you I am far gone

My song
For you is my song
Hold on
For you I’ll hold on

A little robot in my pocket
A little robot up my sleeve
But you’re so fucking foxy
I can’t leave, I can’t leave

All wrong
For you I’m all wrong
Don Juan
To you I’m Don Juan

It’s been so long
For you so long
I’m so strong
For you I’m so strong

A little robot in my pocket
A little robot up my sleeve
But you’re so fucking foxy
I can’t leave, I can’t leave
I can’t leave, I can’t leave

Come on
To you I’ll come on
Far gone
On you I’m far gone

So drawn
To you I’m so drawn
King Kong
To you I’m King Kong

You made my mind up for me
You made me like a bed
You were so fucking foxy
I can’t remember what you said
I can’t remember what you said
I can’t remember what you said

Of fail today in love
So I’m on my way

The view’s gone maroon
The sun’s on the waves magenta
Laid out to me like torchlight for my flight

Torchlight
Leave me for gone
I seek the salty wave
So I’m on my way

A Luxury

I was trying to be a soldier
But his rocket arms were much too good
I flew across the sea, and over boulder
To see a fire blazing without wood

I was trying to be a lady
I was trying to be very very nice
He was trying to make me crazy
Made me miss my igloo made of ice

It was the fire of Eskimo eyes on him
It was a luxury, it was too much
Nothing really ever was surprising him
His brush and bass were what he loved to touch

I was trying to be a soldier
But his rocket arms were far too good
I flew across the sea, and over boulders
To see a fire blazing without wood

I was trying to be a lady
I was trying to be very very nice
He was trying to make me crazy
Made me miss my igloo made of ice

It was the fire of Eskimo eyes on him
It was a luxury, it was too much
Nothing really ever was surprising him
His brush and bass were what he loved to touch

Lasers never sent to strike it down
Have given up your heart without a sound

Baby Shut Your Eyes

Baby shut your eyes and go to sleep
Let me make things softer than they seem
Out to the horizon take your dreams
Open up your arms and make me king
Padadada, Padadada

Baby shut your eyes and go to sleep
Listen to the sirens through the trees
Pull the blankets from your skin of cream
Feel me as I slowly take the lead
Padadada, just close your eyes

Evening winds sing dark a love song
Mountains glow, although the sun is gone
Black-ash seas move silver waves along
Waves along, waves along, baby, baby

Shut your eyes and go to sleep
Stars up in the sky burn warm and deep
Everything is quiet in the street
So baby shut your eyes and go to sleep
Padadada, Padadada

Baby shut your eyes and go to sleep

Coco

Je t’enlève d’ici
Dans un sac en toile
Que j’ai découpé
D’un bateau à voile

J’ai pris mon couteau
Ils ont eu très peur
J’ai couru sur l’eau
Te trouver mon coeur

J’ai pris mon couteau
J’ai mis du Coco
Ils ont eu très très peur
Quand je t’ai pris mon amour

Les ficelles se mêlent
Dans mes mains j’les tiens
J’ai mis du Chanel
Pour que tu sentes bien

J’ai pris mon couteau
J’ai mis du Coco
Ils ont eu très peur
Quand je t’ai pris mon amour

J’ai pris mon couteau
J’ai mis du Coco
Ils ont eu très très peur
Quand je t’ai pris mon amour

Flying Too High

I’m driving fast
And walking too slow
I’m catching my breath
I’m wrecking the show

Riding through storm
I’m riding through sun
I’d be padding fast with the wind on my chest
If your heart I had won

I’m on my way to you now
But I can’t get there quickly enough
No matter how I try
No matter how I try

I’m flying too high
I’m making a scene,
On my way to your arms
My impatience is mean

I’m flying too high
I’m making a scene
On my way to your arms
I’m blazing

Running through grass
I’m pacing the shore
Awake before dawn
To your heart I implore

I’m skimming waves
I’m facing the wheel
I’m making a fist
And your heart I will steal

I’m on my way to you now
But I can’t get there
Quickly enough
No matter how I try
No matter how I try

I’m flying too high
I’m making a scene
On my way to your arms
My impatience is mean

I’m flying too high
I’m making a scene
On my way to your arms
I’m blazing

Diving through mud
And tearing my pants
I’m lingering long
In search of your glance

I’m waiting for down to light up my tracks
I’ve wagered my heart so I’ve nothing to pack
I’m racing with my pulse, and I’m gliding at night
I’m wishing hard I could fall into your arms from my flight

Sugarfight

You wake up, I’m there
Stay, stay, stay, sugar
Stay, stay, sweet stay
Your eyes like feathers

Black lashes babe
In your arms, take me
This baby-house of baby-leaves
Go on, wind, blow wind

It’s my delight
This sugar-fight
It’s my delight
This sugar-fight

But stay, stay, sugar
Stay sweet, black lash babe
Let me kiss you down
I’ll ease you now

It’s my delight
This sugar-fight
It’s my delight
This sugar-fight
This sugar-fight

At The Shore

At the shore, from the car
A boy and a girl not gone far
See the waves pound the beach
See the girl just out of reach

I want to miss you
I want to guess your wish
I want to miss you
I'll help you get your wish

I want to miss you
I want to guess your wish
I want to miss you
I'll help you get your wish

Under skies rolling black
By the wood, off the track
Ocean's blast but no word said
The stars turn above their heads

I want to miss you
I want to guess your wish
I want to miss you
I'll help you get your wish

I want to miss you
I want to guess your wish
I want to miss you
I'll help you get your wish

I want to miss you
I want to guess your wish
I want to miss you
I'll help you get your wish

I want to miss you
I want to guess your wish
I want to miss you
I'll help you get your wish

I want to miss you

Helmet Ray

Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Lay in wait down by the tracks
Silver shoes and rings of lead
Dressed up like they’ve just been wed

Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Black, black, black, black, black
Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Black, black, black, black

Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Gone so far, they can’t go back
Crouched by tires, slouched on steel
Each heart beat the other feels

Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Black, black, black, black, black
Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Black, black, black, black

Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Have no suitcase, have no sack
Laughing by the baker’s door
Dancing to the highway roar

Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Black, black, black, black, black
Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Black, black, black, black, black

Helmet Ray, Futura Black
Light-beam gun goes, « tack tack tack ! »
Take this peach, taste that plum
Just drop now your light-ray gun

Now That It’s Long Over

Now that it’s long over, I swear to you I’ll never cry again.
Now that it’s long over, I know I’ll never cry for Ray, or West, or Ben.
I gave you my heart and you threw it away.
Tonight at the bar, « you deserved it » I’ll say.
Baby, when we danced I could feel your heart riding mine,
But now I don’t have any tears to use as a sign of love.
I crossed the world just to flee from your eyes.
Now I’ll never cry for any other guys.
Now that it’s long over, I swear to you I’ll never cry, anymore,
Now that it’s long over, I’m sure now on,
My goodbyes will be a bore.
Driving my car with the windows down.
At the bar I’ll be wearing my drinks like a crown.
Now I don’t care if they stay or if they go.
I might leave myself when the firs roosters crow.
I crossed the world just to flee from your eyes,
Now I’ll never cry for any other guys.
You look so good in those Rock ‘n’ roll pants.
It’s understood, I can’t cry so I’ll dance.
I crossed the world

Ride 600

Jungle leaves on balconies
City horns beside
Your brown eyes a great escape
A candy horse to ride

For girls to ride
Your big brown eyes
My sweet surprise
Your eyes to ride

A girl will grab your candy-mane
She’ll take you where you’ve never been
Your eyes like leaves, your eyes will cry
She’ll take you riding everywhere, in the air

She’ll take you riding in the air
And you won’t care where
And downtown the lights are gold and clear
And downtown you are her only dear

For girls to ride
Your big brown eyes
My sweet surprise
Your eyes to ride

A girl will grab your candy-mane
She’ll take you where you’ve never been
Your eyes like leaves, your eyes will cry

Takes

Breathe in, speak out

One, two
One two three

Your stars aligned for taking down
You wear a nest like it's a crown
The runway that's the streets in flames
Your shoes your private fleet of planes

The vapor's work is working in your chest
A perfume that's a substitute for rest
Oh you're gonna break the winner's ribbon
Pay back every coin you've been given

Breathe in, speak out
Kick down, every doubt
Breathe in, speak out
Kick down, every doubt

You are not a stallion
But you want her like the motor's rev
You want her like a diamond
That's been lost beneath the bed

One, two, three, four
One, two, three

The trigger in your hand awake
You're taking all that you can take
The heavy dream is where you're bound
Heavy gives your song its sound

Under ash or crystal cloud
Standing where it's not allowed
Now your twitching hips ignite
A dance for making things alright

Breathe in, speak out
Kick down, every doubt
Breathe in, speak out
Kick down, every doubt

Breathe in, speak out
Kick down, every doubt
Breathe in, speak out
Kick down, every doubt

You are not a stallion
But you want her like the motor's rev
You want her like a diamond
That's been lost beneath the bed

Three, four
One, two, three

Heavy dreaming

Heavy dreaming makes the waking like the dreaming
Black like your eyes, black like your hair
Baby run now

Heavy dreaming makes the waking like the dreaming
Black like your eyes, black like your hair
Baby run now

Borrowed morning
Cloudy shorebreak
Falcon soaring
Daylights blind date
Never cocktails
Always coffee
Stupid coat-tails
Opium poppy

Heavy dreaming makes the waking like the dreaming
Black like your eyes, black like your hair
Baby run now

Sharp italian's
Falling castle
Racing stallions
Silver tassel
Revving motor
Clever vision
Hidden harbor
Take this ribbon

Heavy dreaming makes the waking like the dreaming
Black like your eyes, black like your hair
Baby run now

Oh so black your hair
Put your head down here
Oh so black your hair
Put your head down here

Heavy dreaming makes the waking like the dreaming
Black like your eyes, black like your hair
Baby run now

Heavy dreaming makes the waking like the dreaming
Black like your eyes, black like your hair
Baby run now

Baby run now
Baby run now
Baby run now
Run, run baby
Run, run baby
Run, run baby
Run, run baby

The drum

You gotta choose your rock'n roll
You're sure to make him go
But when, when will you find
Someone so warm
Someone so kind

You're the chieftan of your show
You're led just by the road
You're tired and you know best
The way he tried to help you rest

Oh what a body, tanned by sun
Tall and lean
A body built by angels
Built to know just what I mean

He’s got to dance his moves alone
And make the floor his own
While I, I take my time
To beat the drum
And chase the dime

I told him yes then told him no
Left alone to ride the flow
But songs, at fall of night
Though I'm away, make it alright

Oh what a body, tanned by sun
Tall and lean
A body built by angels
Built to know just what I mean

You got to choose your rock'n roll
You're sure to make him go
But when, when will you find
Someone so warm
Someone so kind

Oh what a body, tanned by sun
Tall and lean
A body built by angels
Built to know just what I mean

You got to choose your rock'n roll
Oh, oh, oh...

Trampoline

Trampoline
You're not the one
But i'll make us breakfast
And go for a drive

Trampoline
My heart's not won
But the pacific is gorgeous
Let's go for a dive

Two shoe-store
Sales' boys
And that's not all
Oh all these little joys
But my heart won't fall
My heart won't fall

Trampoline
Technical sneakers
Morning-time, wake up
I'll wash out your hair

Trampoline
Joni on the speakers
Champa in the soap-dish
Smokes in the air

Two shoe-store
Sales' boys
And that's not all
Oh all these little joys
But my heart won't fall
My heart won't fall

Trampoline
I'll warm the car
Let's fo to Trinidad
Searching for some stones
Trampoline
You're not my star
But don't be so serious
My love's for loan

Two shoe-store
Sales' boys
And that's not all
Oh all these little joys
But my heart won't fall
My heart won't fall
No

Hand on steel

Baby hear
When you turn to me
I wanna take you over
Put you right beside me
And drive the car away
Heavy-lidded baby
The road will make it better

I'll make a song up for you
Here's what it will say

Put your head on my lap
Cool the coastline this hour
Radar's bloom is a trap
Closed now, tight as a flower

Black your hair by the wheel
Deep my jungle of dreams
Loose, my hand on the steel
My heart's just what it seems
My heart's just what it seems

Baby hear
When you turn to me
I wanna make you love me
Drug the heart that flitters
And steal into your veins
Never seen you crying
I want to see you hungry

Let me light you up now
Asleep as I explain
Two, three, four

Put your head on my lap
Cool the coastline this hour
Radar's bloom is a trap
Closed now, tight as a flower

Black your hair by the wheel
Deep my jungle of dreams
Loose, my hand on the steel
My heart's just what it seems
My heart's just what it seems

Oh I'll take you there
I'll take you there
I'll take you 'till it won't be fair

Whistle

Eighteen coming like thunder
Platinum bangs and you under
Driving high on the Cliffside
Black rocks bared by the low-tide

Vapor-girl
The hissing car
Barely veils
Your fleet of stars

Palm on kerosene lantern
You, curled soft as a kitten
Hitch-hike over the passes
You, queen of cutting classes

Vapor-girl
The hissing car
Barely veils
Your fleet of stars

Crossing north to the island
Your ringed fingers in my hand
Puppet-strings over Coltrane
At the twins in the grey rain

Vapor-girl
The hissing car
Vapor-girl
The hissing car
Barely veils
Your fleet of stars

The building

I made you a building so grand
The stars and the sun just couldn't stand
It towering there, blocking their rays
From everyone walking the streets underneath like a maze

With the heat of your heavy angel-bones
You're holding me still
And now my thoughts have flown

I made you a building so high
I knew you were wrong
But I didn't know why, why
Not out of wires, not with a spoon
I know you don't care but it angers the big giant moon

With the heat of your heavy angel-bones
You're holding me still
And now my thoughts have flown

With the heat of your heavy angel-bones
You're holding me still
And now my thoughts have flown

Now my thought have flown
Now my thought have flown
Flown, flown, flown...

Without a pain

Everybody told me not to follow where you led
But I had to go and see at least
You were not an angel but you're wrong to think
Your glamour and your violence mean you're a beast

Black your leather
And your messy head
White your eyes and shirt
And your fancy bed

I know that you said stupid things against me
And that I led you on without a plan
I never called our story a solution
I just adored how you said "I'm your man"

Black your leather
And your messy head
White your eyes and shirt
And your fancy bed

Black and white the cop cars closing in
On you tonight before my heart you win

But your low warm voice
Leaves me with no choice
Even when you’re mean
Your voice makes me dream

Black and white the cop cars closing in
On you tonight, on you tonight,
On you tonight before my heart you win

I led you on and on
I led you on and on and on
I led you on and on
I led you on, I led you on
I led you on

High

Your skin in the smoke of the wood, dinner hour
Makes me high under the violet sky-tower
Look all around us, the cut plants regrow
Leaning like me to get close to your glow

Even in the city there's a rhythm
And it's by this beat that we are driven
One, two, three, four, I still want more

When my planet turns on, I will triple in size
As a gesture explaining my love for your eyes
Little star-beats that wander and hide in the air
Tumble drunk just like me in the scent of your hair

Even in the city there's a rhythm
And it's by this beat that we are driven
One, two, three, four, I still want more

The feathers that I found might have been yours or mine
Invisibly silver on dry grass and vine
And the sweater and Tee-shirt I found at the shore
Are still soaked with the salt from our dancing before

Even in the city there's a rhythm
And it's by this beat that we are driven
One, two, three, four, I still want more
Seven, eight, nine, give me more time

Egyptian

I'm rolling in a borrowed car
A hot-rod called egyptian
With Jules in the back
And a terrible decision
Green and white
And blue and black
We'll use for making portraits
The colors flashing by outside
We'll bring into the fortress

With Jules on
With you on
With me on

Once out in the country
Brand-new midnight words
We'll christen
The towers that you wrote of
Will be too far off to listen
Soft you make my visions
And I fear my hand you'll take
Morning-cakes like animals
For tired eyes i'll bake

With Jules on
With you on
With me on

Mother, father, brothers
Might be sitting at the table
But here beneath my touch
I'll keep you as sweetly as I'm able
A beautiful boy
Beside his dark egyptian model
Almost high i'll drive you both
To where the papers cannot follow

With Jules on
With you on
With me on, on, on...

Halfway on

Walked out of bed with a sweater halfway on
Haven't read your books yet but I know your pale mouthed smile
Windy branches on silver sky looked so good
Went out with my suitcase rolling, for maybe a mile

Even birds moving on the white sky
Didn't know if I should stay with some more or should I go
They looked like my hair with your hair in a mess on the sheets
But branches didn't know how long I should stay with you or go

Your aqua eyes ask
But no signs come now

Black birds turning round don't say a word
Tender sometimes you gather me like the market brings the town
Your bright eyes use the word "forever"
But even Samsonite won't say how long i'll love you now

Your aqua eyes are the only things talking
Still I'm asking "should I stay here some more, or go"
I'm asking the morning and branches and birds
That are moving and rolling in the wind sweater halfway on
Thinking "no, no, no, no..."

Your aqua eyes ask
But no signs come now
No signs come, they don't come, they don't come
No signs, no signs come
They don't come, they don't come...

The choice

If, on my bike, I led you to the castle
If in your van, the whole fucking tattooed band teased
Trouble is sometimes deserved and sometimes asked for
So sweetheart, if I'm your fool I must be released

Darling, here is the choice I am making
Morning is upon us, without a noise
Out by myself, towards the sun
The road I'm taking

I'll keep my eyes
Shining bright for other boys
I'll keep my eyes
Shining bright for other boys

You know I Could have got that thing off the ground
I told you dear, the weather it was rising
Dawn like a red-breasted Robin but noon with a frown
Baby if you're on your own now, it's not surprising

Darling, here is the choice I am making
Morning is upon us, without even a noise
Out by myself, towards the sun
This road I'm taking

I'll keep my eyes
Shining bright for other boys
I'll keep my eyes
Shining bright for other boys

I'll keep my eyes
Shining bright for other boys
I'll keep my eyes
Shining bright for other boys

Call me

Call me when you're dreaming
Call when you're waking
Call me with your blue eyes
Call me with your brown eyes

Call me in the wet hills
Call me from the fast car
Call from the slow car

The country's exploding like dynamite
I've read everyone of your books
A tempest blows and the tracker
And his hound have been giving us looks

Call me with your green eyes
Call with your hazel eyes
Call me with your pale mouth
Call me with your red mouth

Call me in the soft sky
Call in the rough sky
Call me from the tall wave
Call me from the low wave

The country's exploding like dynamite
I've read everyone of your books
A tempest blows and the tracker
And hound are giving us looks

The country's exploding like dynamite
I've read all your books
A tempest blows and the tracker
And his hound are giving us looks
Call me, call me...

Right black spotlight

The wind is coming cross the bay
Lights are on the shiny night
Glitter, glitter, never say
You lost this moment like a fight

Pitch black spotlight like a kiss
First-class deals are cold here
Condors rise and pythons hiss
The motor kicks up in your ear

Barefoot baby's lamp's on
Moving like the cam's on
Do "the tiger", do "the cat"
But privacy is where it's at

Barefoot baby's lamp's on
Moving like the cam's on
Do "the tiger", do "the cat"
But privacy is where it's at

Every time you flashed your eyes
Darling heard the starting shot
Flash them like a golden prize
But darling's danger can't be bought

Window-pane out with a fist
Pantry door is open wide
Dance, but do remember this
It looks the best when you don't try

Barefoot baby's lamp's on
Moving like the cam's on
Do "the tiger", do "the cat"
But privacy is where it's at

Barefoot baby's lamp's on
Moving like the cam's on
Do "the tiger", do "the cat"
But privacy is where it's at

My, my, my, pretty baby

The mummy

Wrapped up like a mummy
I go spinning-down the winter street
With a stupid heart saying your name at every beat
A silly halo of breathing
Hand in my big coat lost
You know when you try to have everything
There is a cost

Car horns blow from the side
Icy are the little tears I cried
And above, the devil-wind is hollering
A song, cold and dry

"I don't even miss you
Rock'n roll baby
I'm better here stumbling
Better alone
I don't want to kiss you
Rock'n roll baby
I hold up my hand
And pretend it's a phone
With my hand to my ear
I'm stumbling dear
Pretending your voice is my own"

All Right Now

Stone Trade

You're the only man
Who can satisfy me
Let me speak to your body
When you sleep

You're gonna be
My new Goliath
I'll use this love
As a gun against death

You got my stone to beat like a heart
You got my stone to beat like a heart
You got my stone to beat like a heart
You got my stone to beat like a heart
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Skies of green in your eyes
Turn my night to sunrise
Give me your word
Give me all your words
I'll take your fear
And feed it to the birds

You got my stone to beat like a heart
You got my stone to beat like a heart
You got my stone to beat like a heart
You got my stone to beat like a heart...

Penetrate

Silver hair and aqua eyes
A diamond flag suspended
Over shoulders it describes
The perfect country you defend

Kisses in prize-fighting style
Are causing me to wonder
If we'll ever reconcile
Our ways of being prey or being hunter

I'm gonna penetrate your forest baby, forest baby
What I break will grow again they say, again they say
I'm gonna penetrate your forest baby, forest baby
Certain vows you have to make each day, make each day
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Radical the way a child
Is when he's alone, ambitious
Though you come off mild
You're so beautiful it's vicious

Get a girl who likes your key
And lock her in your castle
Now I know I'll never be
The mortar to your pestle

I'm gonna penetrate your forest baby, forest baby
What I break will grow again they say, again they say
I'm gonna penetrate your forest baby, forest baby
Certain vows you have to make each day, make each day

Sweat King

Honey take me dancing like I'm leaping rock to rock
Honey take me leaping rock to rock at discotech
Honey now's the time although I know it's Monday night
Honey put your summer perfume on with pants real tight

Sweat's what makes the night a foreign country
King don't turn away or I'll be gone
Sweat's one of the things you know you promised me
Just make sure tonight I never yawn
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Out of caves I'm coming, I'm a bell about to ring
Arms are raised, I'm running to do disco-everything
White as moon from hiding, now my hair's like branches
With the air colliding in my fists are matches

Sweat's what makes the night a foreign country
King don't turn away or I'll be gone
Sweat's one of the things you know you promised me
Just make sure tonight I never yawn

Sweat's what makes the night a foreign country
King don't turn away or I'll be gone
Sweat's one of the things you know you promised me
Just make sure tonight I never yawn...

Bloom

In the bottom of the theatre, where the line is drawn
In between the water heaters I bent down and took the straw
In a room full of powders, on your skin were black ink fields
We held hands as I talked louder, my body strange in its difficult heels

The branded arms that walked my bike home
Rested right above me in a flower's name
That's where I talked and talked and shut up 'til he loved me
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Underneath where pipes go, I saw crosses on your skin
Make-up mirror lights glowed, I forgot to wish that I was thin
The part of me that lets me dream, or if I'm lucky, sleep
Is walking where we walked last time, and swimming where it's deep

The branded arms that walked my bike home
Rested right above me in a flower's name
That's where I talked and talked and shut up 'til he loved me
I talked and talked and shut up 'til he loved me

Hard As Love

Right off the shelf, you read my life
You made me dream I was a wife
Eyes like a palace, tongue full of gold
You shouted "action" then the film rolled

I'm blown
I'm blown
I'm blown
Hard as love to your door

You take a breath, you say you want more
Hand on the glass, like I've seen before
White cotton pillow, hair dirty black
You want to take me and not give me back
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
I'm blown
I'm blown
I'm blown
Hard as love to your door

Dangerous baby, it could be true
You got a halo, it's just black and blue
I saw it shining at the hotel
How do you hit me just like a bell

I'm blown
I'm blown
I'm blown

Open Your Lock

Cold black window
Boy way up high
Me down below
Turn on your light
You still don't know
What to wear tonight

Knife at my chest
Street like the sea
You've had your rest
You've had your dream
I'll do my best
If you'll come down to me
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Boy, if you cannot decide tonight
Which tight pants, which jacket is right
Just make a cape with the sheet in your fist
Open your lock and lean into my kiss

Your room looks soft
I'm on my knees
Wind on and off
Comes through the trees
We don't need to talk
Just throw down your keys

You'll never try
We'll never meet
My flashing eyes
Cars in the street
But it's alright
It's alright, it's alright

Boy, if you cannot decide tonight
Which tight pants, which jacket is right
Just make a cape with the sheet in your fist
Open your lock and lean into my kiss

Do What You Can Do

I can't sleep without you
I wreck the bed and wait for day
Lights and sirens are nothing next to you
My care for sleep's gone away

Un, deux, trois, quatre!

Driving fast along the fields
Driving like I did with you
Doesn't seem to wear me out
Come and do what you can do
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Driving fast along the fields
Driving like I did with you
It doesn't seem to wear me out
Come and do what you can do

The wind rubs itself against the door
You must think that I can wait
I dream of you but I need more
While you swallow every bait

Un, deux, trois, quatre!

Driving fast along the fields
Driving like I did with you
Doesn't seem to wear me out
Come and do what you can do

Driving fast along the fields
Driving like I did with you
It doesn't seem to wear me out
Come and do what you can do

In my bed I kick the sheets
My desire like horses runs
You're too far to hear me plead
For the moment you will come

Un, deux, trois, quatre!

Driving fast along the fields
Driving like I did with you
Doesn't seem to wear me out
Come and do what you can do

Driving fast along the fields
Driving like I did with you

It's Alright

One, two, three, four

Your prehistoric eyes
And the perfume on your neck
Were such the right surprise, yeah
You touched me there and back

Your captivating mind
And the pants so black and tight
I guess I must admit
I was looking for trouble alright, alright

I'm losing you like a halo, but it's alright
You're losing me like a halo, but it's alright
I'm losing you like a halo, but it's alright
You're losing me like a halo, but it's alright

Your band-tee-shirt’s torn and your vinyl collection's stunning
You're mad at me because it's clear that I'm not running
You seem to think that I have always been too lucky
Well, I can't be mad at you, for I am far far too lucky
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
I'm losing you like a halo, but it's alright
You're losing me like a halo, but it's alright
I'm losing you like a halo, but it's alright
You're losing me like a halo, but it's alright

Hang on, rock stars
It's alright, it's alright
Rock stars lose their haloes every night
Every night

I'm losing you like a halo, but it's alright
You're losing me like a halo, but it's alright
I'm losing you like a halo, but it's alright
You're losing me like a halo, but it's alright

Past Contemplative

You hit the table with your fist
As if to say "no room here for what's fragile"
So now you've got your crowd awake
Back and forth from praise to shame you're agile

And it's experience when your work turns bad
And it's experience when your eyes wake up sad

Your hair has grown across your eyes
And this looks quite good as if you planned it
Still they back away when they learn
That they're only moons around your planet

And it's experience when your work turns bad
And it's experience when your eyes wake up sad

I want to be sweet to you, let me try
I want to climb with you, until you're high
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
You radiate a state of cool
But don't believe I'm fooled that it is native, no
Yet your hand at building fires
Turns me on way past contemplative

And it's experience when your work turns bad
And it's experience when your eyes wake up sad

Green Light

When I'm driving in your eyes
I feel like a thousand miles per hour
New desire feels like hope
Touch me and I'll turn and turn to smoke

Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light

Lost the time of year when I saw you
Lost the time of day I just want to be your girl
We could be like kids you know
But that's not the way I want to show
How I want you, how I want to
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light

What if what we've lost won't go away
What if nothing's worth what out hearts pay

Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light
Oh, oh, oh, oh, turn on my green light...

Like A Cure

You're back today and down at the sailor-bar
The old Jambalaya with black and white tiles is aflame
You grab my hand and both of us dressed up in roses
We'll break down the night until there's no-one to blame

That's how I'm dancing like a cure for you
I'm dancing like an answer
I'm doing tricky robot-moves
I'm your dirvish-disco-fencer

Bees sting when you lie in the garden
Loving the feel of the green on your feet and your hands
Gorgeous, you can laugh at my passes
But tonight you'll be falling right into the palm of my plans

So I'm dancing like a cure for you
Dancing like an answer
I'm doing tricky robot-moves
I'm your dirvish-disco-fencer
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Trees fall when the day is silent
Not in the wind of the storm of the evening before
I know I am a tyrant
But once in your arms I'll be trying to be something more

See now I'm dancing like a cure for you
Dancing like an answer
I'm doing tricky robot-moves
I'm your dirvish-disco-fencer

Dancing like a cure for you
I'm dancing like a cure

Dancing like a cure for you
Dancing like an answer
I'm doing tricky robot-moves
I'm your dirvish-disco-fencer

I'm dancing like a cure
I'm dancing like a cure
I'm dancing like a cure
I'm dancing like a cure
Like a cure, like a cure
Like a cure, like a cure
Like a cure

Mile Stride

In this town the trees look like ladies
In this town the totem-pole towers
In this town the houses are lacy
In this town it rains on the flowers

My ray-gun awake in my palm, I see hundreds of peaks up ahead
I want to go further and further and further and further 'til I'm dead

I'm never sad when out on the narrow
I am a dog with a thousand bones
Stars overhead look just like an arrow
Pointing the way to take to get to my throne

My ray-gun awake in my palm, I see hundreds of peaks up ahead
I want to go further and further and further and further 'til I'm dead
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
In this town so gloomy is winter
In this town there's chalk on your hands
My nights with you were spent as only a renter
We met each other sometimes under the bands

My ray-gun awake in my palm, I see hundreds of peaks up ahead
I want to go further and further and further and further 'til I'm dead
My ray-gun awake in my palm, I see hundreds of peaks up ahead
I want to go further and further and further and further 'til I'm dead

My stride is a mile long
I'm riding the wave of the feeling of being gone
My stride is a mile long
I'm caught on the weight of the feeling of being gone
My stride is a mile long, is a mile long, is a mile long

Get Down

Baby when you look at me
Oh lord baby when you look at me
I get high, and I want to get down with you

Baby when you look at me
Oh lord baby when you look at me
I get high, and I want to get down with you

The state is aching for the next new criminal
Baby it's you
A wave is crashing strong like crashing cymbals
In song for you

Someone's fingers comb my thoughts from afar
Yeah, it is you
Woodsmoke from the fire smells so good
But not as good as you
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
I can hear you laughing as you joke I've given up
My love of you
All the running dogs they make me mad because
I'd like to run to you

When we were dancing
And I saw your eyes, your eyes, your eyes, your eyes
A hundred thousand miles away from me you are
You are tonight, you are tonight
You are tonight, tonight, tonight

Baby when you look at me
Oh lord baby when you look at me

You're Wrong

If you thought that when I fought you
I knew it would begin, you're wrong
When you say that being rivals
Quickly made us criminals, you're wrong

You want to be so good to me
You say you're fine if I am free, you're wrong
And leaving on trains, though the sight of you
Still stains my eyes, you're wrong

You wonder why I write of other boys
Well, it's because your garden has such subtle joys
Joys, such subtle joys
Joys, such subtle joys, joys, joys

I am drawn to those who're wrong
The ones with flaming swords and moving song
Yeah, I a drawn to those who're wrong
The ones with flaming swords and moving song

You wonder why I write of other boys
Well, it's because your garden has such subtle joys
Joys, such subtle joys
Joys, such subtle joys, joys, joys, joys
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
I thought my heart was sweet
You thought my heart was sweet
We thought my heart was sweet
But we were wrong

Joys, joys, joys
Joys, joys, joys...

Du bout des yeux

( The Chase bonus track )

Ces petits pas
Qui te suivaient
Où que tu ailles
Je les revois
Aller vers toi
Vaille que vaille

Des petits pas
Toujours feutrés
Comme à Versailles
L'espoir qu'un ??
Le coeur ???
Maille après maille

Ils trébuchaient
Se relevaient
Tracaient leurs masses
Se retrouvaient
En équilibre
Au fil des traces

Et savouraient
Le pur bonheur
Du face à face
Avec tes traces
De petits pas
Que rien n'efface

Tes yeux riaient
Je me souviens
Quand tu pleurais
Ils m'enchantaient
Me fascinaient
Me délivraient
Me révélaient
À un silence
Que rien n'efface

L'éternité
Genoux à terre
Je te l'offrais
Quand je rêvais
Que ton royaume
À moi s'ouvrait
Je veux surprendre
À chaque instant
À t'effleurer
À t'effleurer
À t'effleurer
À t'effleurer

Jamaican Boy

( With Bost & Bim )

Ooooh, Ooooh
Mmm Mmmm Mmm

Hey!

Take me on a trip; I'd like to go some day!
Take me down to Kingston, love to see Mo-Bay!
I really want to, come kick it with you
You'll be my Jamaican boy

He said, hey sister
It's really really nice to meet ya
I just met this 5' 7" guy who's just my type
I like the way he's speakin'
His confidence is peakin'
Don't like his tight jeans but I might like what's underneath them
No, I ain't been to L.I.A
I heard that Portland always rains and Kingston's hide awaits
But first let's see the west-end
I'll show you to my bedroom
I'm liking this Jamaican boy
Jamaican boy

Take me on a trip, I'd like to go some day!
Take me down to Kingston, I’d love to see Mo-Bay!
I really want to come kick it with you
You'll be my Jamaican boy
Jamaican boy

Da la-la la-la la-la
Da la-la la-la la-la
Da la-la la-la la-la
You’ll be my Jamaican boy
Jamaican boy

Can we get away this weekend?
Take me to Negril
Let's go shopping, baby, then we'll go to a Cafe
Let's get on the ???
Take me to your garrison
I neva been to Kingston and I'd like to see what's good
Dressed in all your fancy clothes
Sandal’s looking fresh to death I'm lovin' those marengos
Walkin' that walk
Talk that slick talk
I'm liking this Jamaican boy
Jamaican boy

Take me on a trip; I'd like to go some day!
Take me down to Kingston; I'd love to see Mo-Bay!
I really want to come kick it with you
You'll be my Jamaican boy

Rock me to sleep

( Saint-Germain-Des-Prés Revisité LP )

When the sun goes to rest
And birds start to nest
When shadows of evening creep
Rock me to sleep

When the daylight is gone
And darkness comes on
When people start counting sheep
Rock me to sleep

So cuddle close
And hold me tight
Rock me to and fro
Like gentle breezes in the night
Just rock me till I go to sleep in your arms
To dream of your charms
while lost in a slumber deep
Rock me to sleep

So cuddle close
And hold me tight
Rock me to and fro
Like gentle breezes in the night
Just rock me till I fall asleep in your arms
To dream of your charms
While lost in a slumber, deep
Rock me, rock me, rock me, rock me
Rock me, rock to sleep

Runaway

( Eruption cover / Live )

As I walk along I wonder
What went wrong with our love
A love that was so strong

As I walk along, I think of
The times we had together
While our hearts were young

I'm walking in the rain
Tears are falling and I feel the pain
Wishing you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder
Wa wa wa wa wonder
Why, why why why why why he ran away
And I wonder
Where he will stay
My little runaway
Run run run run runaway

I'm walking in the rain
Tears are falling and I feel the pain
Wishing you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder
Wa wa wa wa wonder
Why, why why why why why he ran away
And I wonder where he will stay
My little runaway
Run run run run runaway
Run run run run runaway
Run run run run runaway

Summer surprise

(The Chase Digital Bonus Track)

Shake
From the sheets all the sand on your feet
In the shell that's your ear
I'll be whispering, dear; that "I want you"
Take down your hair with its sea-saltened air
With my hands on your eyes
It's a summer surprise
That I love you
There's a bottle of water
But what does it matter
There's a bottle of water
But what does it matter
I love you
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Kick - from the stairs
Old books lying there
There'll be some better time
For enriching our minds
Now I want you

Tie down the shades
With the sun on your face
For I'm not looking out
There's a movie about
How I love you
There's a bottle of water
But what does it matter
There's a bottle of water
But what does it matter

I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
