B i o g r a p h y Named after Dylan’s “Corina Corina”, Repp got an earful of the folk singer growing up. Her father, an accomplished guitar maker, instilled in her a love for the instrument, which she took to as a teenager. Her first steps toward a music career came in the late 90’s. Drawing on influences such as Gillian Welch, The Cowboy Junkies, Giant Sand and other country-tinged performers, Repp’s first efforts have the earmarks of alternative-country: a world-weariness, a subtle drawl, minor key narratives of lost love, tragedy and redemption. A dramatic shift came in 1999 with a the release of the EP The Other Side is Mud. Here Repp found her unique voice: She tempered her vocal delivery, rarely venturing past a conversational volume. Strummed guitar was largely phased out in favor spare finger picked figures or undulating romantic melodies. The shift toward minimalism heightened the drama of her narratives which also underwent transformation from literal to figurative. The end result was evocative of the ethereal otherworldliness of misty, zen landscape paintings, or the stark In those days Repp did make some attempts to collaborate. The short lived State Flowers-- a band which she co-fronted--recorded and self released one record then fizzled out. A couple gigs with drummers were interesting but lacking something that her electrifying solo performances achieved. Repp soon took to performing a few numbers with a “Dr. Groove” drum machine. Repp’s first major recording accomplishment was a sleeper. Recorded at The Type Foundry with Adam Selzer (The Decemberists, M. Ward, Norfolk and Western) I Take On Your Days is a slow-burning, intimate, cohesive collection of songs establishing Repp’s singularity. The songs stretch out and serve as horizon lines for the vocals. Accompaniments of sustained, droning notes are punctuated by her vocal melodies, pretty but never delicate, never girly. Always a woman. The lyrics mix contempt--served chillingly cold--with radiant, sublime love, sidestepping cliches and maudlin histrionics. Witnessing Repp perform her material in 2002, it took Keith Schriener, an accomplished electronic musician (Dahlia, Auditory Sculpture, Suckapunch), several months to build up the courage to ask her if she would like to collaborate with him. After some trial runs, the two embarked on a series of casual sessions which would come to produce the enchanting, symbiotic It’s Only The Future. The drill was straightforward: Repp would come in the studio and play her song while Keith found a tempo and suggested beats. Repp played producer, largely taming Schreiner’s instincts, reducing beats to rudiments, synth figures to texture. The subject matter of the songs is largely inspired by the slow walk to separation in her marriage, sparking questions of identity and instinct. Once again, the songs bear her musical trademarks: panoramic space, entrancing simplicity, wizened lyrical perspective. Repp will take these songs to the stage again, performing throughout the west with The Decemberists, M. Ward and others |

Idyllwild & Lost
Horse
Idyllwild and lost horse
Driving arms I don't miss my bed
And the fire burns a season
August irons I don't miss my bed
Everyone is gone
Obligation moves them on
And I don't speak
I'm just sitting
I have nowhere I have to be
Be
They were howling near and far
Sirens in the dark
Obligation moves pulls them on
With the postcards on a shelf
And next to no-one
There's nothing else
Everyone is gone
Obligation moves them on
And I don't speak
I'm just sitting
I have nowhere I have to be
Be
Everyone is gone
Obligation moves them on
And I don't speak
I'm just sitting
I have nowhere I have to be
Be
At The End Of The
Night
At the end of the night
When all is done
It doesn't matter what he said
Or what was won
At the end of the night
When all is done
And I should have told you to fuck off
But you're no one
At the end of the night
When all is done
I knew from the minute I walked in
I didn't want to be there
Despite the empty chairs
I gave myself in stare
His big grin didn't bother me
I knew not to trust it
I knew not to trust it
Trust it
At the end of the night
When all is done
Doesn't matter what he said
'Cause you don't
And I'm sticking to my guns
I'm sticking to my guns
Despite the empty chairs
I gave myself in stare
His big grin didn't bother me
'Cause I knew not to trust it
I knew not to trust it
Trust it
At the end of the night
When all is done
And I should have told you to fuck off
But you're no one
You're no one
Everything is okay
( Mile: a hush compilation )
Everything is okay
Everything is alright
Everything is okay
Everything is alright
Bring in the shotgun
Or bring in the saint
If i moved away
Would anything change
Bring in the obstacles
Or bring in the grave
If put my head up
Would you do the same
For me
Oh the other side is mud
Oh the other side is mud
Everything is okay
Everything is alright
Everything is okay
Everything alright
Bring in the confidence
And stand up straight
Put my head up
Would you do the same
For me
Oh the other side is mud
Oh the other side is mud
April fool
And I'm still
Wondering where you went
He said a month or two ago
I'd be your groom
I'd be your groom
I'm Sorry
I say
There's not enough room, for the both of us
It was just too perfect to trust
And I'm still
Wondering where you went
this is the death of me and you
the death of me and you
We found out, you didn't need me
And I found I didn't need you
It was just just too perfect to trust
Minutes will
I feel like such a fool
When I stand next to you
I wish my back was turned
unrecognizable to them
I wish he had something that I could believe in
But that won't change if you try
And the minutes, they'll turn when I'm gone
And the minutes, they'll turn when I'm gone
I feel absurd
When I stand next to you
And if my back was turned
Could I entertain you
Am I the one who should be
In the bright lights
It's too dark, I can't see their face
And the minutes, they'll turn when I'm gone
And the minutes, they'll turn when I'm gone
And the minutes, they'll turn when I'm gone
Raleigh School
Birds
When you were mine
When you were mine
Rosiness struck me blind
My head hit the fence
And they swarm, they swarm like bees
And watching them I feel small
And gracefully they fly to sleep
And gracefully they fly to sleep
And they fly, they fall to sleep
And they fly, they fall to sleep
And I am fine, fine, fine
I am fine
I am fine
I am fine
They sang the solo
( Mile: a hush compilation )
I bought a knife
And carved your name
Up on stilts
On the tallest tree
We build a fort
No one could see
And I became your queen
And you became my prince
But I made you up
You don't exist
And you never did
And you never did
And I became your queen
And you became my prince
But I made you up
You don't exist
And you never did
And you never did

Did You Say You
Were Grown
Have you had enough
Of me and you
You have no response
You're not happy for me
And you're hanging on
With your tiny threat
With your tiny threat
Are you that desperate
Are you that desperate
I'm not that desperate
Do you seem
And your heart is obvious and you
You want the world to know
You want the world to know
So you ignore me
Did you say you were grown
Did you say you were grown
Did you say you were grown
Did you say you were grown
Opinion
What if I
Never raised my voice
You'd never know
How weak I can be
What if I
Never said anything
But compliments
Would you be happy
Now that you're gone
I think that it would be better
If you found someone who had
No opinion at all
No opinion at all
What if I
Never raised my faith
You'd never know
I could be like this
What if I
Agreed with everything
I would be
Just like you know
Now that you're gone
I think that it would be better
If you found someone who had
No opinion at all
No opinion at all
What happens to the plans
You've made
And haven't kept
He put his head down
After all was said
I won't argue
Over what was said
Now that he's gone
I put the coat on
I put the coat on
I put his coat on
But never quite fit
I raise my wage
With what was ???
You can have it
If you want
I'll take the picture
I'll take the picture
I'll take the picture
From the fourth of July
When the rockets cleared the sky
And he stood by my side and said
You're a good kid
You're a good kid
You've been a good kid
For all of your life
Undertow
You say that our
Best mistakes are
You undertow from ??
Since the day we were born
Moving back and forth
You know that it has no word
And nowhere to go
Just leave it alone
I'm not trying to make you commit
To who you've been
And who you've known
And is it better now that you've grown
And are you better now that you've grown
???
It looks that I've done something right
Good news
You don't want the good news
I don't have any other
If I was confused
Would you like me any better
So you shut them all down
All because you knew how
Is there any good news
Left coming from you
You don't want the good news
I finally have mine
You ran out of the room
And came back with a knife
To ??? down
All because you know how
You brought us all down
All because you know how
Is there any good news
Left coming from you
I Take On Your
Days
I take on your days
Even when you're away
I take on your days
And it's hard to be
With you and with me
And it's hard to be
I think of your mother
I think of your father
And I'm homesick after all
I think of the watch he left
Underneath his breath
You're my favorite one
I take on your nights
Even when you cry
I take on your nights
And it's hard to be
With you and with me
And it's hard to be
I think of your mother
Think of your father
And I'm homesick after all
I think of the smile she left
Underneath her breath
You're my favorite one
Gone
The good ones are gone
Taken in arms
I don't want to know
You're gone, you're gone
Wrap yourself in it
And you drag your feet
So willingly
But I'm not pleading ghost
I let most of him go
Go, go
Go, go
And I can't help you now
I pick on myself and how
Did you notice your heart
Far from its shell
You're gone, gone
You're gone, gone
Wrap yourself in it
Wrap yourself in it
Blues For The
Unencouraged
When you're old enough
I'll tell you to go
And when you're old enough
I'll leave you alone
I know you won't make it
I wouldn't plan to be
Anything, anything, anything
Anything, anything, anything
And when I'm old enough
I'll push you away
And when I'm old enough
I'll ask you to stay
I know I won’t make it
I didn't plan to be
Anything, anything, anything
Anything, anything, anything
Upstairs, Outside
Now you've found your way
Back outside
Softly said I'm alright
Don't wait up for this
Go back outside
You'll begin to fall faster
Come first keeping mine
They don't stay the night
Softly said I'm alright
Softly said I'm alright
You're all I ever wanted
You're all I ever needed
You didn't take me away from me
You let me be when i need to be
Be
And I've changed my mind
I don't need to find appreciation
And anything or anyone but you
Let's call it the truth
And anything, and everyone and you
And anything, and everyone and you
You like me the way I am
I don't need to be anyone's friend
And everything and anyone it's you
Let's call it the truth
And everything and anyone and you
Let's call it the truth
And everything and anyone and you
And everything and anyone and you
And everything and anyone and you
And everything and anyone and you

Lost at sea
If you're lost at sea
Will you wait for me
If i'm shot down
Will you look for me
If i'm locked out
Will you let me in
Now i can't get out
I forgot how
Held all the doors open
Held all the doors open
If i'm lost at sea
Will you let me be
If you can't find
Any reason
Any reason to stay alive
I'll let you go
I'll let you go
If you can't find
If you can't find
If you can't find
Any reason
Any reason to stay alive
I'll let you go
It's only
the future
But its only the future
And the fact that you left home
No matter what you do
You're alone
But its only the past
And its what you'll never get back
You take the worst
And let it rest
But its only a lie
And its not there to define
What you know
What they know
Whats not said
You're not alone
But its only the future
And the fact that you left home
No matter what you do
You're alone
You almost made it out, but you turned around
I miss my friends
The ones i grew up with
The boys, the men, the girlfriends
Are you okay
Are you even awake
Are you even awake
Do you take your clothes off
For anyone
With your daughter and your son
In the next room
Did you make it past
The train tracks
The stop lights
Do i have to ask
If you'd leave them behind
With all the best inside
With all the best inside
You almost
Made it out
You almost
Made it out
But you turned around
But you turned around
No one's telling
I put it on you
Its best if i'm alone
What you said was better
Than what you've ever shown
I don't want you to walk me
Home
I don't want you to walk me
Home
No one's telling me to go
No one's asking me to stay
No one's telling me to leave
No one's asked me if i feel better
Today
If i feel better
Today
And i put it on you
Because i'm all alone
With all my reasons to stay
No one's telling me to go
No one's asking me to stay
No one's telling me to leave
No one's asked me if i feel better
Today
If i feel better
Today
And i put it on you
Because i'm all alone
With all my reasons to stay
No one's telling me to go
No one's asking me to stay
No one's telling me to leave
No one's asked me if i feel better
Today
If i feel better
Today
Have
+ to hold
I'll see you sometime
When the person
You thought i was
You thought i was
I'm not anymore
Whats the point
Of dragging this out
And i'm some kid
And you're some kid
And you're still innocent
Whats the reason
To have and to hold
When you only let go
Whats the reason
To have and to hold
When you only let go
I'll see you sometime
When i'm some wife
Or when i'm alone
Or when i'm alone
I'll haven't let go
Whats the reason
To have and to hold
When you only let go
Whats the reason
To have and to hold
When you only let go
And i'll be there to hold
I won't let go
And i'm some kid
And you're some kid
And we're still innocent
Finally
If you don't look
I won't tell
Finally free to be still
Maybe something's right this time
I'll never look
Theres nothing to tell
Finally a place to be
But you know me too well sometimes
Theres no waiting
No taking a stand
Nothing comes up
That hasn't been had
Some say a place to be
But you know me too well sometimes
If you can't see
I'll have to say
Finally free to be still
Maybe its the other way
Theres no waiting
No taking a stand
Nothing comes up
That hasn't been had
Finally a place to be
But you know me too well sometimes
But you know me too well sometimes
Maybe something's right this time
Okay
Replaced
You know that it fades away
Well all have a way
To be replaced
To be replaced
To be replaced
To be replaced
With someone
Brighter than you
With a future
You can turn to
You can turn to
You can turn to
You can turn to
And i'll forget everything
Until i see someone
Burning like me
To take it on
To take it on
To take it on
To take it on
You know that it fades away
We all have a way
To be replaced
To be replaced
To be replaced
To be replaced
To be replaced
To be replaced
To be replaced
Here's someone else
It'll be good
If you want it
It'll be gold
If you want it
Just stare
At whats behind you
The kids
Have come and gone
Here will i stay
Here in the well
While you think of yourself
While you drink from yourself
I'll have a minute
Here if you need it
I'd hate to miss you
I would cause i need to
Have someone say
"here's someone else"
While you think of yourself
Thats what you do with yourself
S.s. 5000
And its just a shame
That you don't find
Any decent heart
That isn't afraid
And its just the way
Ten years today
He always said too bad
Too bad i wanted it
And now you have it
And everyone's looking to see
What you'll be like
Be like the next time you meet
And you kept wasting them
Yourself and everyone else
Just watched to see
If you went down whispering
You could fall asleep
I'll still let you be
Some unknown
Cause no one's listening
I'll be seeing you
I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through
In the small cafe
The park across the way
The childrens carosel
The chestnut tree
The wishing well
I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything thats light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But i'll be seeing you
I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through

All
All
All the things you are
You know I surely go
Be all
All the things you're not
Now you can be
Them all
All the things you are
You know I surely go
Be all
All the things you're not
Now you can be
Them all
Don't say it was me
Don't say it was me
Who pulled you under
Your Not far
Where the mother called you in
Where the father took you out with the men
Your old friends
Wonder when you've been
Wonder why we're both a little gone
All
All the things you are
You know I surely go
Be all
All the things you're not
Now you can be
Them all
Be all, all, all...
Safe Place In The
World
Did you come looking for
A safe place in the world
Here next to a girl
What if that safe place has
Secrets no one understands
Here next to a man
I always knew
I wouldn't stay
Too long
It just wasn't you
It just wasn't me
Now I'm here
On the other side
What if that man there has
what he'll never have
Here next to a girl
What if you find someone who
Tell your secrets to
The old days are new
And the old days are new
I always knew
I wouldn't stay
Too long
It just wasn't you
It just wasn't me
Now I'm here
On the other side
Afloat
Where will we go
You know the shore
Will keep us afloat
For awhile
Only 'till the sea
Tell secrets to each
And everyone that comes to be
Taken underneath
By everything
That you'll never sink
That you'll never sink
Leave it at the shore
It's not yours anymore
And it will never be
Know you'll always have
A place to keep
You and me afloat for awhile
You and me afloat for awhile
Let Us Lie
Underneath The Night
We can drive half way across divide
We can go anywhere we want to
Let us lie underneath the night
And let us lie
Let us lie underneath the night
Without a home
There's no place left to mark
with all that we demand of self
I know you know
I know you know
And you know it well
There's no sense leaving it to
Leaving it to the rest
Who sleep on it
I'll Walk You Out
I'll walk you out
But everyone knows where I'm from
I don't mind
It won't keep me
It won't keep me
Some girls don't want to stay home
Some girls don't want to stay home
I don't mind
It won't keep me
It won't keep me
I'll walk you out
But they can't look away
What are they gonna do
What are they gonna say
He's coming back for you someday
He's coming back for you someday
Some girls are meant to stay home
Some girls are meant to stay home
I don't mind
It won't keep me
It won't keep me
Heavenly Place
(For Charles)
Wait for me
I'll wait for you
All the things that we have lost
In the dark a coat of
Armour does nothing to keep
Us from
A Beating heart
Can't stop and start
Oh! I wish you a heavenly place
Oh! I wish you a heavenly place
When you're hurt
'Cause you love someone
There's a light where it's dark
And you know
That you'll never be alone
Oh! I wish you a heavenly place
Oh! I wish you a heavenly place
Anyone's It
How will you ever know
I can't be yours
I can't be anyone's life
Except mine
Except mine
I always think about
What we miss
When we're sitting here with this
Old friend
Old friend
Your lost love
That you'll never keep hold of
While you wait for it to end
I can't be anyone's it
I can't be anyone's it
Except mine
Except mine
That Which Has
No Remorse
Endless Days filling up
Causing rift, splitting blood
That's the way it's going to be
So I will fall in love
So profound was the force
Pushing us closer towards
That which has no remorse
So I will fall in love

Ambulance
( mile: a hush compilation )
An ambulance rushes by
Flashing red and white
To the scene
Two hundred cars
A head screaming
Three miles at most
On the highway
The city shifts its weight
Heading north
You'll be late
I dont know the dead
But i got a chill
I dont know tragedy
But they say i will
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Whatever they mean
They dont care because
Today they cried and stared
A man they dont know
Wont make it home tonight
I drive past in heartache
And in relief
You know what i mean
You know what they think
I'm glad it wasn't me
I dont know the dead
But i got a chill
I dont know tragedy
But they say i will
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Ha ha ha
Easy To Leave
( With Ben Barnett / Mile: A Hush Compilation LP )
Easy to leave
So cheaply
I can't breathe
Through a mask
I can see past
And you're also scared
Of being easy to leave
Because you're hard to love that way
Because you're hard to love that way
And you won't say anything
Tonight we're through
The tiny holes, the tiny holes
You speak through
And you're also scared
Of being easy to leave
Because you're hard to love that way
Because you're hard to love that way
And you don't say anything (and you don't say anything)
Tonight we're thought (you don't even talk)
The tiny holes, the tiny holes (the silent, the sidewalk)
You speak through (hold you all day)
And you want with that face (and you don't say anything)
And you want with those eyes (...)
Say anything, say anything
To match your size
And you're also scared
Of being easy to leave
Because you're hard to love that way
Because you're hard to love that way
Fire at st. Jude
( mile: a hush compilation )
The trees are on fire
But only a few
Their smoke, their breath
Reminds me of you
And the fire at st jude
All of this when
I thought you were winning
Only something up ahead
Your arms bent by your side
A questioning pose
Before an answer arose
At the fire at St Jude
At the fire at St Jude
The red engines roaring
Lights spinning
Everyone's sick
Where's my baby
The fire quick spread
So stand by and watch
It form ahead
Taking on arms
But your kindness
Disagrees with its evil
Your kindness is like water
At the fire at st jude
At the fire at st jude
The red engines roaring
Lights spinning
Everyone's sick
Where's my baby
Where's my baby
Where's my baby
You've been flirting
again
