B i o g r a p h y The Doors, one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the 1960s, were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by UCLA film students Ray Manzarek, keyboards, and Jim Morrison, vocals; with drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger. The group never added a bass player, and their sound was dominated by Manzarek's electric organ work and Morrison's deep, sonorous voice, with which he sang and intoned his highly poetic lyrics. The group signed to Elektra Records in 1966 and released its first album, The Doors, featuring the hit "Light My Fire," in 1967. Like "Light My Fire," the debut album was a massive hit, and endures as one of the most exciting, groundbreaking recordings of the psychedelic era. Blending blues, classical, Eastern music, and pop into sinister but beguiling melodies, the band sounded like no other. With his rich, chilling vocals and somber poetic visions, Morrison explored the depths of the darkest and most thrilling aspects of the psychedelic experience. Their first effort was so stellar, in fact, that the Doors were hard-pressed to match it, and although their next few albums contained a wealth of first-rate material, the group also began running up against the limitations of their recklessly disturbing visions. By their third album, they had exhausted their initial reservoir of compositions, and some of the tracks they hurriedly devised to meet public demand were clearly inferior to, and imitative of, their best early work. On The Soft Parade, the group experimented with brass sections, with mixed results. Accused (without much merit) by much of the rock underground as pop sellouts, the group charged back hard with the final two albums they recorded with Morrison, on which they drew upon stone-cold blues for much of their inspiration, especially on 1971's L.A. Woman. From the start, the Doors' focus was the charismatic Morrison, who proved increasingly unstable over the group's brief career. In 1969, Morrison was arrested for indecent exposure during a concert in Miami, an incident that nearly derailed the band. Nevertheless, the Doors managed to turn out a series of successful albums and singles through 1971, when, upon the completion of L.A. Woman, Morrison decamped for Paris. He died there, apparently of a drug overdose. The three surviving Doors tried to carry on without him, but ultimately disbanded. Yet the Doors' music and Morrison's legend continued to fascinate succeeding generations of rock fans: In the mid-'80s, Morrison was as big a star as he'd been in the mid-'60s, and Elektra has sold numerous quantities of the Doors' original albums plus reissues and releases of live material over the years, while publishers have flooded bookstores with Doors and Morrison biographies. In 1991, director Oliver Stone made The Doors, a feature film about the group starring Val Kilmer as Morrison. |

In The Eye Of The Sun
In the eye of the sun before the world had begun
Takin' it easy, I was havin' some fun
Loafin' anda jokin' it was all energy
No such thing as you and or me
No time, you are mine
In the eye of the sun before the world had begun
It had been alot of work the last time around
Needed a rest, a chance to just lie down
Always on the go, no time to kill
Alot of runnin' to and fro hard working in the mill
So it blew up and I threw up
Into the eye of the sun before the world had begun
Well I hung around, don't know how many years
No more troubles, no more fears
Had alot of rest w/nothing to do
But I got kinda bored with nothin' to do
I wanted flesh and blood, skin and bones
Multidimensional, universal home
I was space and time up and down
Live and dead, blood all around
I knew there'd be trouble, but I could pull through
So I thought of the world and humans too.
Variety Is
The Spice Of Life
Well variety is the spice of life
Thats what the judge is gonna tell my wife
She said why did you have to do it?, why you such a fool?
I can't resist to try something new
Well the judge said guilty in the first degree
I said can I help it if I take all the publicity
All these pretty women, with nothing to do
C'mon and help me try to find something new
You gotta try everything once
You better take out some insurance
You gotta try everything once
You better build up your endurance
Well variety is the spice of life
Thats what the judge is gonna tell my wife
She said why did you have to do it?, why you such a fool?
I can't resist to try something new
You got a full house babe, I got four of a kind
I'm watching six different televisions all at one time
You know I love you baby, sad but it's true
You gotta try everything once
You better take out some insurance
You gotta try everything once
You better build up your endurance
Well variety is the spice of life
Thats what the judge is gonna tell my wife
She said why did you have to do it?, why you such a fool?
I can't resist to try something new
Ships W/
Sails
Well you asked how much I love you
Why do ships with sails love the wind?
And will I be thinking of you
Will I ever pass this way again
I'll be returning some day
Until then, please don't ask me my direction
Let my tracks be buried in the sea
'Cause to wander is my infection
'Till the four winds bring you back to me
Don't count your memories
Think of me as just a dream
Just like this melody, I sing
*** Thanx a lot to
Cornelious who corrected a mistake
***
Tightrope
Ride
You're on a tightrope ride
Nobody by your side
Well, you're all alone
Gotta find a new home
Don't go over the line
You better keep on time
Or you'll lose your mind
On your tightrope ride
Watch out don't fall
Careful don't slip
You better get your balance
You have to feel the weight
There are no more questions
Or no answers today
There are no reasons
There are no more rhymes
But if you can feel it, you can fly next time
You can fly next time
Or maybe this time
Did you think we were all together
Did you think we were all the same
Did you think I could help you remember your name
Remember the pain
What's the name of the game
It's a very good game
Never stays the same
From the mud to the sun
You're on a tightrope ride
We're all by your side
But you're all alone and we're going home
And we're by you side
But you're all alone like a rolling stone
Like Brian Jones
On a tightrope ride
On a tightrope ride
On a tightrope ride
On a tightrope ride
On a tightrope ride
On a tightrope ride
Down On
The Farm
Don't need none today
His mind has gone astray
'Cause we don't need none today
Did you hear what I say?
Don't need none today
Gonna run a rainbow ragged
City life's a real bad habit
All the boys are down on the farm
Gonna run a rainbow ragged
City life's a real bad habit
C'mon along it won't do you no harm
We're goin' down on the farm
Don't need none today
His mind has gone astray
'Cause we don't need none today
Did you hear what I say?
Don't need none today
Gonna run a rainbow ragged
City life's a real bad habit
All the boys are down on the farm
Gonna run a rainbow
Gonna run a rainbow
Gonna run a rainbow
Gonna run a rainbow
Gonna run a rainbow ragged
City life's a real bad habit
C'mon along it won't do you no harm
All the boys are down on the farm
I'm Horny,
I'm Stoned
Well I'm tired, I'm nervous, I'm bored, I'm stoned
Don't you know life aint so easy when you're on your own
I'm lonely, I'm ugly, I'm horny, I'm cold
Don't you know life aint so easy when you're on your own
Leaving home
Well I got ripped off, wiped out, I got burned
Don't you know life aint so easy when you're on your own
I feel my mind is shaking out of place
I look like a truck ran over my face
The doctor says I'm not a hopeless case
I really want to join the human race
Well I got ripped off, wiped out, I got burned
Don't you know life aint so easy when you're on your own
Well I'm tired, I'm nervous, I'm bored, I'm stoned
Don't you know life aint so easy when you're on your own
Leaving home, on your own
On your own
Wandering
Musician
Please don't tell me what to do
'Cause even if I wanted to
I couldn't throw my life away
By listenening to what you say
I'm telling you, aint nothing you can do to change my way
Hey, hey, hey
Aint no way gonna make me think like you do
No matter if the sun or stars say I'm wrong
It's just a song of the lonely wandering musician
I'm telling you, aint nothing you can do to change my way
No, no, no, no, no
Aint no way gonna make me think like you do
It's just a song of a lonely wandering musician
I'm telling you, aint nothing you can do to change my way
Hey, hey, hey
Aint no way
Hey, hey, hey
Aint no way
Hey, hey, hey
Aint no way
Hang On To
Your Life
Sweet bird of prey you've gone below
All soft and black it's time to grow
Don't be afraid to touch the light
Don't run from love in the starless night
Hang on to your life it's begun now
Hang on paradise here we come now
Life is like the wind, where does it begin?
Time come again, where's your day now?
Bring me your sunlight, it's the way now
Just spread your wings and taste the sky
It's time to laugh, it's time to fly
The mountain air is clear and bright
Your shadow world is endless night
Hang on to your life it's begun now
Hang on paradise here we come now
Hang on to your life it's begun now
Hang on paradise here we come now
Life is like the wind, where's it gonna end?
Get Up And Dance
Oh people, get up and dance
The new days comin', it's the end of a chance
No need to worry, no need to hide
Everybody is on the same side
Oh people, get up and dance
The future's ours if we just take a chance
No need to hurry, but no time to waste
The year 2000 is the time of hate
Oh people, get up and dance
Like walkin' along an electric beam
It's the old crystal palace dream
Oh people, get up and dance
The new days comin', it's the end of a chance
The future's ours if we just take a chance
No need to hurry, but no time to waste
So come on people, get up and dance
Yeah, get up and dance
C'mon, lets get up and dance
Golden days
Get up and dance
We'll have diamond nights
Get up and dance
We got sweet light shinin'
Get up and dance
Golden days
Get up and dance
We'll have diamond nights
C'mon people, get up and dance
C'mon, get up and dance
Let's dance
Get up and dance
4 Billion
Souls
One, two, three, four billion souls are gonna rest
If all our friends don't try their best
To change the way this world is headed for
We can find our hapiness
It aint so hard to find
Just look a little further up the line
Just a little further up in time
Don't you see that we could be the first in history
Leavin' all that we don't need behind
We could clean it up and make it shine
Verdilac
I'm gonna hang on your neck just like a verdilac
Take you for a ride in my cadillac
Well I tried, I tried but I can't make you understand
Baby can't you see I'm more than just a man
If you don't bring me coffee in my favourite cup
You're make it necessary for me to conjure up
Spirits
Spirits
I'm gonna hang on your neck just like good luck
Take you for a ride in my cadillac
Well I tried, I tried but I can't make you understand
If you don't bring me coffee in my favourite cup
You're make it necessary for me to conjure up
Spirits
Spirits
Spirits
Spirits
Hardwood
Floor
Gonna tell your daddy that we need some dough
We're gonna get married down in Mexico
We got love, don't need no more
But all we got to live on is a hardwood floor
You know all we got to live on is a hardwood floor
We got love don't need no more
All we got to live on is a hardwood floor
All we got to live on is a hardwood floor
All we got to live on
All we got to live on
All we got to live on is a hardwood floor
Like I said before
Well I had a lot of money about a year ago
Spent all my money on a rock 'n' roll show
I got a lot to tell, aint got nothing to show
All we got to live on is a hardwood floor
On this hardwood floor
On this hardwood floor
Well I went to see your daddy but he sure got sore
He said you oughta be out there fighting the war
I asked him for some money, he said what for
I told him all we got to live on is a hardwood floor
You know all we got to live on is a hardwood floor
We got love don't need no more
All we got to live on is a hardwood floor
On this hardwood floor
On this hardwood floor
On this hardwood floor
All we got to live on is this hardwood floor
All we got to live on is this hardwood floor
Good
Rockin'
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Hold my baby tight as a pin
Tonight she'll know how my mind might have been
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Well meet me in a hurry, behind the barn
Don't you be afraid 'cause I'll do you no harm
Want you to bring along your rockin' shoes
Tonight we're gonna rock away all of our blues
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Well I heard the news
Well I heard the news
Well it's good news
Everyone's rockin, it's good news
Got to keep on rockin'
Have you heard the news?
There's good rockin' tonight
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Well meet me in a hurry, behind the barn
Don't you be afraid 'cause I'll do you no harm
Want you to bring along your rockin' shoes
Tonight we're gonna rock away all of our blues
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Well I heard the news
Well I heard the news
Yes, I heard the news
Well it's good news
The world is rockin'
It's good news
All of Russia is rockin'
It's good news
Argentina is rockin'
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Rock 'n' roll
Have you heard the news?
Good news
Have you heard the news
Rock 'n' roll is taking over
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Rock 'n' roll
Feels good
Love my baby
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Yes I heard the news
Well I heard the news
Yes I heard the news
Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
Well it's good news
Everybody's rockin'
Good news
Keep on rockin'
Good news
The world is rockin'
Rock 'n' roll

Well I heard the news, there's good rockin' tonight
The
Mosquito
No me moleste mosquito
Why don't you go home?
No me moleste mosquito
Let me eat my burrito
The Piano
Bird
The bird sings outside my piano
Lark of sweet love singing low
The more I play, the more he sings
He lives right up there in the green tree
Singing to me melodies
And in return, I play for him
I played him a song on my piano
Well I played real good, I played what I could
And in return, he sang for me
He lives right there in the tree
Giving me his melodies
A bird sings outside my piano
Well I played real good, I played what I could
And in return, he sang for me
He lives right there in the tree
Giving me his melodies
A bird sings outside my piano
A bird sings outside my piano
Lark of sweet love singing low
He lives right there in the tree
Singing the melodies
The more I play, the more he sings
The bird sings outside my piano
It Slipped
My Mind
You know it just done slipped my mind
Just done slipped my mind
Just so hard to find
You know it just done slipped my mind
I left my body somewhere down the line
It's just so easy to lose track of time
You know it just done slipped my mind
You know it just done slipped my mind
It wouldn't matter but it's time to meditate
You know it just done slipped my mind
My memories undefined
They must haved spiked my wine
Because it just done slipped my mind
My mind and body are still out of tune
I hope they run into each other real soon
You know it just done slipped my mind
You know it just done slipped my mind
I wouldn't mind but it's cold here on the moon
You know it just done slipped my mind
You know it just done slipped my mind
My memories undefined
You know it just done slipped my mind
They must have spiked my wine
My mind and body are still out of tune
I hope they run into each other real soon
You know it just done slipped my mind
You know it just done slipped my mind
I wouldn't mind but it's cold here on the moon
You know it just done slipped my mind
You know it just done slipped my mind
The Peking
King And The New York Queen
Well I heard a story, you can judge it's worth
About the sun and the moon the time they came down to earth
They pass in the heavens each day up above
Time after time they soon became old
They could not touch, they could not kiss
They had no flesh, no earthly bliss
So they made a scheme, they made a plan
They would come down to earth as a woman and a man
And took human forms to live out a dream
The most beautiful people that I've ever seen
They were the Peking king and the New York queen
I said the Peking king and the New York queen
As fate would have it it was a toss of a dice
They went to opposite ends of this world with our lives
Opposite eyes, opposite minds
Such things matter in these troubled times
"We read a book from right to left"
"You read a book from the left to the right!"
"We see a rabbit in the moon"
"When you look at the moon, It's a man on the moon"
"Raw fish is very tasty, thank you"
"Eating raw fish is disgusting"
"Buddah is the only way"
"Jesus is the fun way"
"Communism!"
"Democracy!"
"East is red"
"Better dead than red!"
Peking in the east, New York in the west
Each say that they are the best
About the sun and the moon and their earthly quest
Knew without a doubt that it was all the best
They said what does it matter how you read a book
It's all the same no matter how it looks
Well the only thing important to the Peking king
Was feeding in the arms of his New York queen
Thousands of miles, they were so far apart
How to get together, where to start
On the California zipper and the Shanghai express
He headed to Hong Kong, she headed out west
No passports, no visas, no government quotas
No red tape no red guard could stop the dream of the Peking king and the New
York Queen
I said the Peking king and the New York queen
So the found a little lot in the field of dreams
It was a perfect little place to live our dream
East is east, west is west
'Cause you're invited to the wedding to share a dream
Of the Peking king and the New York queen
Peking king and the New York queen
You're invited to the wedding and to share in a dream
You're invited to the wedding and to share in a dream
Of the Peking king and his New York queen
You're invited to the wedding and to share in a dream
You're invited to the wedding and to share in a dream
Of the sun and the moon
Peking king and New York queen

Awake
Is everybody in?
Is everybody in?
Is everybody in?
The ceremony is about to begin.
WAKE UP!
You can't remember where it was
had this dream stopped?
Shake dreams from your hair
My pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
The day's divinity
First thing you see.
A vast radiant beach in a cool jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by it's quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy
The music and voices are all around us.
Choose they croon the Ancient Ones
The time has come again
Choose now, they croon
Beneath the moon
Beside an ancient lake
Enter again the sweet forest
Enter the hot dream
Come with us
Everything is broken up and dances.
Indians scattered
On dawn's highway bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child’s
Fragile eggshell mind
Dawn's Highway
Me and my -ah- mother and father - and a
Grandmother and a grandfather - were driving through
the desert, at dawn, and a truck load of Indian
workers had either hit another car, or just - I don't
know what happened - but there were Indians scattered
all over the highway, bleeding to death.
So the car pulls up and stops. That was the first time
I tasted fear. I musta' been about four - like a child is
like a flower, his head is just floating in the
breeze, man.
The reaction I get now thinking about it, looking
back - is that the souls of the ghosts of those dead
Indians...maybe one or two of 'em...were just
running around freaking out, and just leaped into my
soul. And they're still in there.
Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind.
Blood in the streets in the town of New Haven
Blood stains the roofs and the palm trees of Venice
Blood in my love in the terrible summer
Bloody red sun of Phantastic L.A.
Blood screams her brain as they chop off her fingers
Blood will be born in the birth if a nation
Blood is the rose of mysterious union
Blood on the rise, it's following me.
Indian, Indian what did you die for?
Indian says, nothing at all.
Newborn
Awakening
Gently they stir, gently rise
The dead are newborn awakening
With ravaged limbs and wet souls
Gently they sigh in rapt funeral amazement
Who called these dead to dance?
Was it the young woman learning to play the ghost song on her baby grand?
Was it the wilderness children?
Was it the ghost god himself, stuttering, cheering, chatting blindly?
I called you up to anoint the earth
I called you to announce sadness falling like burned skin
I called you to wish you well
To glory in self like a new monster
And now I call you to pray
To Come of Age
A military station in the desert.
Can we resolve the past
Lurking jaws, joints of time?
The Base
To come of age in a dry place
Holes and caves.
My friend drove and hour each day from the mountains
The bus gives you a hard-on with books in your lap
Someone shot the bird in the afternoon dance show
They gave out free records to the best couple
Spades dance best, from the hip.
Black Polished
Chrome
The music was new
Black polished chrome
And came over the summer
Like liquid night.
The DJ's took pills to stay awake
And play for seven days
They went to the studio
And someone knew him
Someone knew the TV showman
He came to our homeroom party
And played records
And when he left in the hot noon sun
And walked to his car
We saw the chooks had written
F-U-C-K on his windshield
He wiped it off with a rag
And smiling cooly drove away
He's rich. Got a big car
Latino Chrome
My gang will get you
Scenes of rape in the arroyo
Seduction in cars, abandoned buildings
Fights at the food stand
The dust
The shoes
Open shirts and raised collars
Bright sculptured hair.
Hey man, you want girls, pills, grass? C'mon...
I show you good time.
This place has everything. C'mon...
I show you.
Angels and
Sailors
Angels and sailors
Rich girls
Backyard fences
Tents
Dreams watching each other narrowly
Soft luxuriant cars
Girls in garages, stripped
Out to get liquor and clothes
Half gallons of wine and six-packs of beer
Jumped, humped, born to suffer
Made to undress in the wilderness.
I will never treat you mean
Never start no kind of scene
I'll tell you every place and person that I've been.
Always a playground instructor, never a killer
Always a bridesmaid on the verge of fame or over
He manouvered two girls into his hotel room
One a friend, the other, the young one, a newer stranger
Vaguely Mexican or Puerto Rican
Poor boys thighs and buttock scarred by a father's belt
She's trying to rie
Story of her boyfriend, of teenage stoned death games
Handsome lad, dead in a car
Confusion
No connections
Come 'ere
I love you
Peace on earth
Will you die for me?
Eat me
This way
The end
I'll always be true
Never go out, sneaking out on you, babe
If you'll only show me Far Arden again.
I'm surprised you could get it up
He whips her lightly, sardonically, with belt
Haven't I been through enough? she asks
Now dressed and leaving
The Spanish girl begins to bleed
She says her period
It's Catholic heaven
I have an ancient Indian crucifix around my neck
My chest is hard and brown
Lying on stained, wretched sheets with a bleeding virgin
We could plan a murder
Or start a religion.
Stoned
Immaculate
I'll tell you this...
No eternal reward will forgive us now
For wasting the dawn.
Back in those days everything was simpler and more confused
One summer night, going to the pier
I ran into two young girls
The blonde one was called Freedom
The dark one, Enterprise
We talked and they told me this story
Now listen to this...
I'll tell you about Texas radio and the big beat
Soft driven, slow and mad
Like some new language
Reaching your head with the cold, sudden fury of a divine messenger
Let me tell you about heartache and the loss of god
Wandering, wandering in hopeless night
Out here in the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned
Immaculate.
The movie
The movie will begin in five moments
The mindless voice announced
All those unseated will await the next show.
We filed slowly, languidly into the hall
The auditorium was vast and silent
As we seated and were darkened, the voice continued.
The program for this evening is not new
You've seen this entertainment through and through
You've seen your birth your life and death
you might recall all of the rest
Did you have a good world when you died?
Enough to base a movie on?.
I'm getting out of here
Where are you going?
To the other side of morning
Please don't chase the clouds, pagodas
Her cunt gripped him like a warm, friendly hand.
It's alright, all your friends are here
When can I meet them?
After you've eaten
I'm not hungry
Uh, we meant beaten
Silver stream, silvery scream
Oooooh, impossible concentration.
Curses,
Invocations
Curses, Invocations
Weird bate-headed mongrels
I keep expecting one of you to rise
Large buxom obese queen
Garden hogs and cunt veterans
Quaint cabbage saints
Shit hoarders and individualists
Drag strip officials
Tight lipped losers and
Lustful fuck salesman
My militant dandies
All strange orders of monsters
Hot on the tail of the woodvine
We welcome you to our procession
Here come the Comedians
Look at them smile
Watch them dance an Indian mile
Look at them gesture
How aplomb
So to gesture everyone
Words dissemble
Words be quick
Words resemble walking sticks
Plant them they will grow
Watch them waver so
I'll always be a word man
Better then a bird man
American Night
All hail the American night!
What was that?
I don't know
Sounds like guns...thunder.
(Roadhouse Blues cuts in here with Jim doing a little audience participation section at
the end.)
...Alright! Alright! Alright!
Hey, listen! Listen! Listen, man! listen, man!
I don't know how many you people believe in astrology...
Yeah, that's right...that's right, baby, I...I am a Sagittarius
The most philosophical of all the signs
But anyway, I don't believe in it
I think it's a bunch of bullshit, myself
But I tell you this, man, I tell you this
I don't know what's gonna happen, man, but I wanna have
my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames
Alright!
The World on
Fire
The World on Fire...Taxi from Africa...The Grand Hotel...
He was drunk a big party last night back going back
in all directions sleeping these insane hours I'll never wake up
in a good mood again I'm sick of these stinky boots
Lament
Lament for my cock
Sore and crucified
I seek to know you
Aquiring soulful wisdom
You can open walls of mystery
Stripshow
How to aquire death in the morning show
TV death which the child absorbs
Deathwell mystery which makes me write
Slow train, the death of my cock gives life
Forgive the poor old people who gave us entry
Taught us god in the child's praye in the night
Guitar player
Ancient wise satyr
Sing your ode to my cock
Caress it's lament
Stiffen and guide us, we frozen
Lost cells
The knowledge of cancer
To speak to the heart
And give the great gift
Words Power Trance
This stable friend and the beast of his zoo
Wild haired chicks
Women flowering in their summit
Monsters of skin
Each color connects
To create the boat
Which rocks the race
Could any hell be more horrible
Than now
And real?
I pressed her thigh and death smiled
Death, old friend
Death and my cock are the world
I can forgive my injuries in the name of
Wisdom Luxury Romance
Sentence upon sentence
Words are the healing lament
For the death of my cock's spirit
Has no meaning in the soft fire
Words got me the wound and will get me well
I you believe it
All join now and lament the death of my cock
A tounge of knowledge in the feathered night
Boys get crazy in the head and suffer
I sacrifice my cock on the alter of silence
The Hitchhiker
Thoughts in time and out of season
The Hitchhiker
Stood by the side of the road
And leveled his thumb
In the calm calculus of reason
Hi. How you doin'? I just got back into town L.A.
I was out on the desert for awhile
"Riders on the storm"
Yeah. In the middle of it
"Riders on the storm"
Right...
"Into this world we're born"
Hey, listen, man, I really got a problem
"Into this world we're thrown"
When I was out on the desert, ya know
"Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan"
I don't know how to tell you
"Riders on the storm"
but, ah, I killed somebody
"There's a killer on the road"
No...
"His brain is squirming like a toad"
It's no big deal, ya know
I don't think anybody will find out about it, but...
" take a long holiday"
Just, ah...
"Let your children play"
This guy gave me a ride, and ah...
"If you give this man a ride"
Started giving me a lot of trouble
"Sweet family will die"
And I just couldn't take it, ya know
"Killer on the road"
And I wasted him
Yeah
An American prayer
Do you know the warm progress under the stars?
Do you know we exist?
Have you forgotten the keys to the Kingdom?
Have you been borne yet & are you alive?
Let's reinvent the gods, all the myths of the ages
Celebrate symbols from deep elder forests
[Have you forgotten the lessons of the ancient war]
We need great golden copulations
The fathers are cackling in trees of the forest
Our mother is dead in the sea
Do you know we are being led to slaughters by placid admirals
& that fat slow generals are getting obscene on young blood
Do you know we are ruled by T.V.
The moon is a dry blood beast
Guerilla bands are rolling numbers in the next block of green vine
amassing for warfare on innocent herdsmen who are just dying
O great creator of being grant us one more hour to perform our art & perfect our
lives
The moths & atheists are doubly divine & dying
We live, we die & death not ends it
Journey we more into the Nightmare
Cling to life our passion'd flower
Cling to cunts & cocks of despair
We got our final vision by clap
Columbus' groin got filled w/ green death
(I touched her thigh & death smiled)
We have assembled inside
this ancient & insane theatre
To propagate our lust for life & flee the swarming wisdom of the streets
The barns are stormed
The windows kept & only one of all the rest
To dance & save us
W/ the divine mockery of words
Music inflames temperament
(When the true King's
murderers are allowed to roam free a 1000 magicians arise in the land)
Where are the feasts
we were promised
Where is the wine
The New Wine
Dying on the vine
Hour for
magic
Resident mockery give us an hour for magic
We of the purple glove
We of the starling flight & velvet hour
We of arabic pleasure's breed
We of sundome and the night
Give us a creed
To believe
A night of Lust
Give us trust in
The Night
Give of color
hundred hues
a rich Mandala
For me and you and for your silky pillowed house
a head, wisdom and a bed
Troubled decree
Resident mockery
has claimed thee
We used to believe in the good old days
We still receive In little ways
The Things of Kindness and unsporting brow
Forget and allow
Freedom exists
Did you know freedom exists in a school book
Did you know madmen are running our prison
within a jail, within a gaol, within a white free protestant
Maelstrom
We're perched headlong
on the edge of boredom
We're reaching for death
on the end of a candle
We're trying for something that's already found us
Wow, I'm sick of doubt
Live in the light of certain
South
Cruel bindings
The servants have the power
Dog-men and their mean women
Pulling poor blankets over our sailors
I'm sick of dour faces
Staring at me from the T.V.
Tower
I want roses in my garden bower; dig
Royal babies, rubies must now replace
Aborted strangers in the mud
These mutants, blood-meal
for the plant that's plowed
They are waiting to take us into the severed garden
Do you know how pale and wanton thrillful
comes death on strange hour
Unannounced, unplanned for
Like a scaring over-friendly guest you've brought to
bed
Death makes angels of us all
And gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as
raven's claws
No more money, no more fancy dress
This other Kingdom seems by far the best
Until its other jaw reveals incest
And lloose obedience to a vegetable law
I will not go
Prefer a Feast of Friends
To the Giant family
Babylon Fading
Then we hear a whistle like a bison's pipe
And the carnival immediately begins
Gradually mixing rain,
Thunder
Bullfight
Football

Babylon Fading
Bird of Prey
Bird of Prey
Bird of Prey
Flying high
Flying high
In the summer sky
Bird of Prey
Bird of Prey
Flying high
Flying high
Gently pass on by
Bird of Prey
Bird of Prey
Flying high
Flying high
Am I going to die
Bird of Prey
Bird of Prey
Flying high
Flying high
Take me on your flight
Awake
Shake dreams from your hair
My pretty child, my sweet one
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
The day's divinity
First thing you see
A vast radiant beach and cooled jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by it's quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy
The music and voices are all around us
Choose they croon the Ancient Ones
The time has come again
Choose now, they croon
Beneath the moon
Beside an ancient lake
Enter again the sweet forest
Enter the hot dream
Come with us
Everything is broken up and dances
Indians scattered,
On dawn's highway bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child’s
Fragile eggshell mind
We have assembled inside
This ancient and insane theater
To propagate our lust for our life
And flee the swarming wisdom of the streets
The barns have stormed
The windows kept
And only one of all the rest
To dance and save us
From the divine mockery of words
Music inflames temperament
Ooh great creator of being
Grant us one more hour
To perform our art
And perfect our lives
We need great golden copulations
When the true kings murders
Are allowed to roam free
A thousand magicians arise in the land
Where are the feast we are promised
One more thing
Thank you oh lord
For the white blind light
Thank you oh lord
For the white blind light
A city rises from the sea
I had a splitting headache
From which the future's made
Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler is still alive
Ooooogh - sssssh
I slept with her last night
yeah
Come out from behind
that false mustache, Adolf
I know your’re in there
ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
You favor life
He sides with Death
I straddle the fence
And my balls hurt

Great screaming Christ
Upsy-daisy
Lazy Mary will get you up upon a Sunday morning
"The movie will begin in 5 moments"
The mindless Voice announced
"All those unseated, will await The next show"
We filed slowly, languidly into the hall. The auditorium was vast, & silent.
As we seated & were darkened
The Voice continued:
"The program for this evening is not new. You have seen This entertainment thru &
thru.
You've seen your birth, your life & death; you might recall all of the rest
-- (did you have a good world when you died?) -- enough to base a movie on?"
An iron chuckle rapped our minds like a fist.
I'm getting out of here
Where're you going?
To the other side of the morning
Please don't chase the clouds
pagodas, temples
Her cunt gripped him
like a warm friendly hand.
"It's all right.
All your friends are here."
When can I meet them?
"After you've eaten"
I'm not hungry
"O, we meant beaten"
Silver stream, silvery scream,
impossible concentration
Here come the comedians
look at them smile
Watch them dance
an indian mile
Look at them gesture
How aplomb
So to gesture everyone
Words dissemble
Words be quick
Words resemble walking sticks
Plant them
They will grow
Watch them waver so
I'll always be
a word-man
Better than a birdman
But I'll charge
Won't get away
w/out lodging a dollar
Shall I say it again
aloud, you get the point
No food w/out fuel's gain
I'll be, the irish loud

at peak of powers
O girl, unleash
your worried comb
O worried mind
Sin in the fallen

Hence the obsession

A Vision of America
She selling news in the market, time in the hall
The girls of the factory, rolling cigars
They haven't invented music yet so I read to them
from the Book of Days;
A horror story from the gothic age
A gruesome romance from the L.A. plague
I have a vision of America seen from the air
28,000 feet and going fast
A one armed man and a Texas parking library
A burnt tree like a giant primeval bird
In an empty lot in Fresno
And elevators filled with citizens
And miles and miles of hotel corridors

People get ready
There's a train-a-coming
You don't need a ticket
Climb on board
Train-a-ride
Sixteen coatches long
Train-a-ride
Sixteen coatches long
Where there be no train
Took my baby, he's gone
Train, train
Comin' round the bend
Train, train
Comin' round the bend
Yeah, there be no evil train
Took my one and only friend
Train, train
Comin' down the line
Train, train
Comin' down the line
Well, there be no rock train
Took the only friend of mine
Train, train
Comin' down the track
Train, train
Comin' down the track
Yeah, he took my baby
And he never bring her back
Allright
Away, away, away in India
Away, away, away in India
Away, away, away in India
That's right
Away, away, away in India
Away, away, away in India
Away, away, away in India
That's right
Away in India
That's right
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the crossroads on my mind
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the crossroads on my mind
Take a walk with me
Everything gonna work out fine
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the junk hangin' on my mind
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the junk hangin' on my mind
Take a walk with me
Everything gonna work out fine
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the eight ball on my mind
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the eight ball on my mind
Take a walk with me
Everything gonna work out fine
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the crossroads on my mind
Well, I woke up a morning
Got the crossroads on my mind
Take a walk with me
Everything gonna work out fine
Train, train
Come and gone
Took my baby
Took my baby
Away
Well, I woke up a morning
Nothing on my mind

There was a person there who put forth the proposition
That you can petition the Lord with prayer
Petition the Lord with prayer
Petition the Lord with prayer

Dead cats, dead rats, did you see what they were at, alright
Dead cat in a tophat
Sucking on a young man's blood
Wishing he would come, yeah
Sucking on a soldier's brain
Wishing it would be the same
Dead cat, dead rat, did you see what they were at
Fat cat in a tophat
Thinks he's an aristocrat
Thinks he can kill and slaughter
Thinks he can shoot my daughter
Yeah, right...oh yeah...alright...yeah
Dead cats, dead rats, think you're an aristocrat
Crap...ah, that's crap

Carol
Oh, Carol!
Don't let him steal your heart away.
Yeah I've got to love you darling
If it takes me all night and day.
Beat cool down,
Over cool down,
I can hear that highway sound.
Carol!
Don't let him steal your heart away.
Well I'm gonna love you darling
If it takes me all night and day.
Whoa, Carol!
Oh, Carol!
Don't let him steal your heart away.
Yeah I'm gonna love you darling
If it takes me all night and day.
One more time!
Whoa, Carol!
Come on, Carol!
Oh yeah!
Oh right!
Well I'm gonna love you darling
If it takes me all night and day.
Build me
a woman
Give me a witness, darling.
I need a witness, babe.
I got the poontang blues. I got the poontang blues.
From the top of my head to the bottom of my cowboy shoes.
Build me a woman,
Make her ten feet tall.
You got to build me a woman,
Make her ten feet tall.
Don't make her worthless,
Don't make her small.
Build me a woman,
Make her ten feet tall.
You got to build me a woman,
Make her ten feet tall.
Don't make her worthless,
Don't make her small.
Build me someone I can ball
All night long.
Close to
you
( Willie Dixon )
(I want to get)
Close to you like black on white,
Close to you like the coldest of ice,
Close to you like a siamese twin,
Close to you like I'm feeling all right.
(I want to get)
Close to you baby, X3
I don't know what to say or do.
(I want to get)
Close to you like the sight of your eye?
Close to you like the heat is to fire,
Close to you baby as close as I can get,
Close to you like water is wet.
(I want to get)
Close to you till I'm feeling all right,
Close to you--gonna love you all night,
Close to you in New York City,
I love you so much you know it's a pity.
Closer and closer baby.
Closer and closer baby.
Discovery
Angels and sailors,
Rich girls,
Backyard fences,
Tents,
Dreams watching each other narrowly,
Soft luxuriant cars.
Girls in garages, stripped
Out to get liquor and clothes
Half gallons of wine and six-packs of beer.
Tender coral
Jumped, humped, born to suffer,
Made to undress in the wilderness.

You need meat--go to the market.
You need bread--try the bakery.
You need loving--look here, baby.
I got just what you need.
Chorus: I got to love somebody
I got to love somebody,
I got to love somebody,
Somebody don't love me.
You need money--go to the bank, dear.
You need honey--look to the bee.
You need loving--come on here, woman.
Well, I got just what you need.
Chorus
Oh, play it now!
You need meat--go to the market.
You need bread--try the bakery.
And you need loving--come on here, baby.
Well, I got just what you need.
I want to love somebody,
Yeah, love somebody,
I got to love somebody,
Somebody got to love me.
Play your guitar!
You need money--go to the bank, dear.
If you need honey--go find a bee.
If need loving--well, I'm your doctor.
I've got people sick on what you need.
Chorus

Far Arden Poem
And so I say to you
The silk handkerchief was
embroidered in China or Japan
behind the steel curtain And
no one can cross the borderline
w/out proper credentials.
This is to say that we are all
sensate & occasionally sad
& if every partner in crime
were to incorporate promises
in his program the dance
might end & all our fiends
would follow.
Who are our friends?
Are they sullen & slow? Do
they have great desire? Or
are they one of the multitude who
walk doubting their impossible
regret. Certainly things happen
& reoccur in continuous promise;
All of us have found a safe
niche where we can store up
riches & talk to our fellows
on the same premise of disaster.
But this will not do. No, this
will never do. There are
continents & shores which
beseech our understanding.
Seldom have we been so slow.
Seldom have we been so far.
My only wish is to see
Far Arden again.

Get out my life woman

Get out my life woman,
Got to climb up to the top
Get out my life woman
Gotta, climb up to the top
Get out my life, yeah
You don’t love me, yeah
Don’t plan, to drop
Yo see you a round
Don’t plan, to drop
You can’t beat your way ‘round
Get out my life woman,

Gloria
( Van Morrison )
Yeah, right.
Did you hear about my baby? She come around,
She come round here, her head to the ground?
Come round here just about midnight,
She makes me feel so good, make me feel all right.
She come round my street, now
She come to my house
Knock upon my door
Climbing up my stairs--one, two, three
Come on baby
Here she is in my room, oh boy
Hey what's your name?
How old are you?
Where'd you go to school?
Well, now that we know each other a little bit better,
Why don't you come over here and make me feel all right!
Chorus: Gloria--g-l-o-r-i-a
Gloria--g-l-o-r-i-a
Gloria--g-l-o-r-i-a
Gloria--g-l-o-r-i-a
You were my queen and I was your fool,
Riding home after school.
You took me home
To your house.
Your father's at work,
Your mama's out shopping around.
Check me into your room.
Show me your thing.
Why'd you do it baby?
Getting softer--slow it down, etc.
Now you show me your thing.
Wrap your legs around my neck,
Wrap your arms around my feet,
Wrap your hair around my skin.
I'm gonna huh--all right, ok, yeah.
It's getting harder--It's getting too darn fast, etc.
Come on, now, let's get it on.
Too late, too late, too late, too late, too late,
Make me feel all right!
Chorus
Keep the whole thing going, baby!
Graveyard
Poem
It was the greatest night of my life.
Although I still had not found a wife
I had my friends
Right there beside me.
We were close together.
We tripped the wall and we scaled the graveyard
Ancient shapes were all around us.
The wet dew felt fresh beside the fog.
Two made love in an ancient spot
One chased a rabbit into the dark
A girl got drunk and balled the dead
And I gave empty sermons to my head.
Cemetary, cool and quiet
Hate to leave your sacred lay
Dread the milky coming of the day.
( Live Detroit )
Well I'm a king bee, want you to
be my queen
Well I'm a king bee baby, want you to be my queen
Together we can make honey, the world ever never seen
I'm young and able to buzz all
night long
I'm young and able to buzz all night long
Well when you hear me buzzin' baby, some stinging is going on
Well I'm a king bee, buzzing
around your hive
Well I'm a king bee, buzzing around your hive
Well I can make honey baby, let me come inside
Well I'm a king bee, can buzz all night long
Well I'm a king bee, can buzz all night long
Well I can buzz better baby, when your man is gone
I Will Never Be Untrue
I will never be untrue
Do anything you would want me to
Never stay out drinking
no later than two
(two thirty...)
I will never treat you mean
And I won't cause no kind of scene
Tell you all the people
all the places I have been
I will always treat you kind
try to give you peace of mind
Only you tell me that you love me
one more time
Now darling
please don't be sad
Don't run off like that
when you get mad
Cause if you do
you gonna lose
the best friend
that you ever had
That's no lie...
I will never be untrue
Do everything you want me to do
Bring all my loving all my money
bring it all home to you
I never be untrue

I'm the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow the day.
I'm the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow the day.
Keep everything in the barnyard
Upset in every way.

The hounds begin to howl.
Dogs begin to bark
The hounds begin to howl.
Look out strange cat people
The rooster's on the prowl.
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home.
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home.
Ain't been no peace in the barnyard
Since my little red rooster been gone.
Love
hides
Love hides in the strangest places.
Love hides in familiar faces.
Love comes when you least expect it.
Love hides in narrow corners.
Love comes to those who seek it.
Love hides inside the rainbow.
Love hides in molecular structures.
Love is the answer.

All deserters will be shot
at 5 o'clock tomorrow morning
so get yourselves together
and quit messing around
No more nonsense!
The assassination occurred at 3.30

Even the breviaries had left their tapestries on the window
And we were all silenced
by the sad mildew cloud
that followed around
I wish I was back in the land of the...
of the...
Aaahm uhm...
You can't pin that one on me
I didn't do a goddamn thing
I was just standing there
Then a bunch of guys came up
and started laying all this shit on me
Now what am I supposed to do?
I'm an American! You can't touch me!
Did you know all nuns are 42?
And their eyes are blue?
Did you know all table clothes
are white in France?
Did you know women wear underpants?
Well, they do!
How does a musician imitate
the sound of underpants sliding
over a woman's thighs,
down over her ankles,
and over her little toes?
And the rings on her toes?
And her unquipped toe nails?
Lightning struck the magic purse
I didn't do a damn thing, man!
I was just standing there
in front of the 'Delicatessen'
and all these rabbies ran up
and a bunch of Indians and freaks
and monsters and f.... just started ...
mhmh... talking in all these weird languages...
What aah ... what ... could I say?
Hey, I'm tired of being a freaky musician
I wanna be Napoleon!
Let's have some more wars around here!
What a stinking, shitty little war we have running over there
Let's get a big one!
A real big one!
With a lotta killings and bombs and blood!

Motel, money, murder, madness
Change the mood from glad to sadness

Orange County Suite
Well I used to know someone fair
She had orange ribbons in her hair
She was such a trip
She was hardly there
But I loved her
Just the same.
There was rain in our window,
The FM set was ragged
But she could talk, yeah,
We learned to speak
And one year
has gone by
Such a long long road to seek it
All we did was break and freak it
We had all
That lovers ever had
We just blew it
And I'm not sad
Well I'm mad
And I'm bad
And two years
have gone by
Now her world was bright orange
And the fire glowed
And her friend had a baby
And she lived with us
Yeah, we broke through the window
Yeah, we knocked on the door
Her phone would not answer,
Yeah, but she's still home
Now her father has passed over
and her sister is a star
and her mother smokes diamonds
and she sleeps out in the car
Yeah, but she remembers Chicago
The musicians and guitars
and grass by the lake
and people who laugh'd
and made her poor heart ache
Now we live down in the valley
We work out on the farm
We climb up to the mountains
and everything's fine
and I'm still here
and you're still there
and we're still around
Paris Blues
I wish I was a girl of sixteen
Be the queen of the magazine
I’d drive around in a great big car
I’d have a chauffeur like a movie star
And all night long you could hear me scream!
When you look all around, can you believe the shape she’s in?
When you look all around, can you believe the shape she’s in?
Look all around, can you believe the shape she’s in?
Know where I’m goin’, can’t remember where I’ve been
Know right where I’m goin’, can’t remember where I’ve been
Goin’ to the city of love, gonna start my life all over again
Once I was young now I’m gettin’ old
Once I was warm, now I feel cold
Well, I’m goin’ overseas, gonna grab me some of that gold
In that year we had an intense
visitation of energy
When radio dark night existed and assumed control
And we rolled in it's web
Consumed by static and stroked with fear
We were drawn down long from a deep sleep
And awakened at dayfall by a worried gardener
And made to be led through dew wet jungle
To the swift summits
'Or looking the sea.
Rock Is Dead
Hi you lady… alright babe… gonna love ya…
When I was just a little boy, ‘bout the age of five
I went to sleep,
I heard my mama and papa talking -
She said
We got to stop that boy, he’s gettin too far out,
He’s goin’ wild, we gotta stop that child.
And I lay there listening, feeling bad -
You know, people, I was feeling bad.
Mama didn’t like the way I did my thing.
The old lady, she didn’t get with that thing.
But my daddy was a sailor, get his head around,
And he said
Boy you got to do it son, get yourself intact,
You gotta love love love love love my baby tonight.
Let me tell you baby ‘bout the death of rock,
I used to be a boy in my home block,
Used to feel alone then I heard some news,
Bunch o’cats got the rockin’ news.
You know I love my rock’n’roll people,
You know we got some fun,
We gonna rock tonight, yeah c’mon…
Rock and roll is dead.
Rock and roll is dead,
Must be something else instead.
You got to lay right down and
Die, die, die, die yeah…
It’s all over baby
That’s it
We gotta go
We had some good times
But it’s gone
It’s all over.
I got a few things on my chest, I got to get ‘em off…
Now listen listen listen listen listen…
Now I don’t want to hear no talk about no revolution,
And I swear to God I don’t want to hear
No talk about no constitution.
And in my frame of mind I am in no mood for
No talk about no… cremation.
The only thing I’m interested in…
I wanna have a good time.
I don’t wanna hear no talk about no riots,
No demonstrations, no cacitritions, no impablermations.
There’s only one thing I want to see…
That’s some dancin’ !
We’re gonna have some fun !
We’re gonna have a good time!
Let’s roll !
O boogie… all night long… yeah…
Rocky little woman be my pal,
Gonna be the fool, gotta deep-dap-doo,
You gotta love, love, love ya baby little lotta-gita-do.
Yeah c’mon…
Yeah, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute
Wait a minute !
Now listen here people !
I’m talkin’ about the death of rock and roll,
And who killed it.
I’m talkin’ about the blues.
I’m talkin’ about the news.
Have you heard, have you heard,
Have you heard the word ?
Rock is dead.
Rock is dead.
Now I didn’t want to be the one to lay it on ya sweetheart,
But I used to be a little fellow traveller.
I used to think we had the whole thing sewed up, mama.
Then I realised,
Rock and roll is dying, baby.
I wanna see some fun !
I wanna see some hanging out !
I wanna see my people
Non-political
Arithmetical
Transcendental
Irathamadental
Coolambindang bupalookanimbo… !
Are you ready ?
Are you ready ?
Are you ready to sing the blues my baby ?
Yeah, I like it real slow,
I like it real bad,
I like to get myself together
I love to hear you get undressed -
Naked woman, out of doors,
I don’t care how loud you snore.
Sun goin’ down, way out on the sea,
Here she comes, little girl, gonna set me free.
Alright c’mon, now… one more time…
Yeah…
Train a’ride - - - sixteen coaches long
Train a’ride - - - sixteen coaches long
Well I got my baby,
Gonna get on the train and run, yeah…
Well that big black train gonna get my baby,
Big black train,
Yeah the big black train gonna get my love,
Gonna take her, gonna hug her, gonna… whoa !!
Gonna love, love, love, love a dingo yeah…
Big black train.
Now when I got home,
I heard my daddy say,
You want a little piece ?
Do you want a little peace ?
Do you want a little soul ?
Do you want a little soul ?
I could not help myself, I could not help myself,
I could not help !
Help ! Help !
I’m dyin’ ! I’m dyin’ ! I’m dyin’ !
I’m die - die - digadigadoohdah whoa !
It’s over !
It’s over !
Have mercy !
Have mercy !
Have mercy on your poor son !
We had some good times.
We had a few good times.
But
Those good little times - you know where they are ?
They’re absolutely, positively under the ground.
And
As long as I got breath, the death of rock
Is the death of me,
And rock is dead
Well, we’re dead… alright… yeah !…
Rock is dead
(Live At The PNE Coliseum, Vancouver, 1970)
Want you to rock me
Rock me all night long
Rock me baby
Rock me all night long
Want you to rock me
'Till I sing my song
See the sun goin' down
Moon begin to rise
See the sun goin' down
Moon begin to rise
Want you to rock me
'Till I'm satisfied
Let's rock awhile
Sun goin' down
Little moon begin to rise
Sun goin' down
Little moon begin to rise
Want you to rock me, little darlin'
'Till I'm satisfied
Let's rock awhile
See me comin', mama
Bring out that old rockin' chair
See me comin', mama
Bring out your rocking chair
No one's watching us
And god knows, no one cares
One more time
Want you to rock me, baby
Rock me all night long
Rock me baby
Rock me all night long
You gotta rock me, little woman
Rock me all night long

There's a belief by the children of man
Which states all will be well
Search on, man
Calm saviour
Veteran of wars and calculable greed
Search on, man
Calm saviour
God speed and forgive you

Girl
She Smells So
Nice
( L.A Woman LP 40th Anniversary Edition )
Yeah the man's first woman know she smells so nice
Well she looks so good I gotta sniff her once or twice
Alright
Well I've been down
I've been up
I've been down
And I've been up but
I love my woman like a sunday drug (?!)
She's the sweetest sweetest woman
When she wakes up come on, alright
Now you walk around and you think that you're so tough
I see you walking around you think that you're so tough
Well you got something momma but it's not enough
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a
sin
I'm going home
I'm going home and lay down
I'm going home, baby
I'm going home and lay down
Gonna switch on the television
I'm gonna drown, yeah, alright
Well it's a long time coming
Long time coming
Long time coming
Long time coming
But when you find it baby
You know you've got some good
When you find somebody now
Don't leave it no good
Come on
Someday Soon
(Live At The Seattle Center, Seattle, 1970)
Someday soon
Someday soon
Familiar freaks will fill your living room
Rugs lash out their lizard tongues
Your not getting young
Your not getting young
But your going to die
And your going to be needing all of your eyes
You’ll be all alone
When the animals cry
All by your self
In some infancy’s lie
Someday soon
Someday soon
Television bleeding like a harvest moon
Flush the scissors down the hole
Your getting old
Your getting old
And I hate to remind you but your going to die
And your going to be needing all of your lies
You’ll be all alone
When the animals cry
All by yourself
In some infancy's lie
Someday soon
Someday soon
Someday soon
Someday soon

The negros in the forest, brightly
feathered
Let me show you the maiden with wrath iron soul
Out here in the perimeter there are no stars,
Out here we is stoned immaculate
(And the carnival immediately begins
Gradually mixing rain, thunder, bullfight
football, playground, war, penny arcade
Babylon fading)

Texas Radio and The Big Beat #1
The truth is on his chest
The cellular excitement has
Totally inspired our magic
Veteran. And now for an
old trip. I'm tired of thinking.
I want the old forms to
reassert their sexual cool.
My mind is just-you know.
And this morning before I sign
off I would like to tell you
about Texas Radio & the Big Beat.
It moves into the perimeter of
your sacred sincere & dedicated
Smile like a calm survivor
of the psychic war. He was
no general for he was not old.
He was no private for he
could not be sold.
He was only a man & his
dedication extended to the last
degree. Poor pretentious soldier,
come home. The dark Los Angeles
evening is steaming the Church
that we attended & I miss
my boy. Stupid in green-
What the color green? When
I watch the T.V. & I see
helicopters swirling their
brutal & bountiful sensation
over the fields & the comic walls
I can only smile & fix a meal
& think about the child who
will one day own you.
In conclusion, darling, let
me repeat: your home is still
here, inviolate & certain
and I open the wide smile of
my remembrance of your lunging thighs. This to you
on the anniversary of our first
night. I know you love me
to talk this way. I hope
no one sees this message
written in the calm lonely
far out languid afternoon
W/my total love, Shirley
The
Celebration of the Lizard
Lions in the street and roaming
Dogs in heat, rabid, foaming
A beast caged in the heart of a city
The body of his mother
Rotting in the summer ground
He fled the town
He went down South and crossed the border
Left the chaos and disorder
Back there over his shoulder
One morning he awoke in a green hotel
With a strange creature groaning beside him
Sweat oozed from its shiny skin
Is everybody in?
The ceremony is about to begin
Wake up!
You can't remember where it was
Had this dream stopped?
The snake was pale gold
Glazed and shrunken
We were afraid to touch it
The sheets were hot dead prisons
Now, run to the mirror in the bathroom
Look!
I can't live thru each slow century of her moving
I let my cheek slide down
The cool smooth tile
Feel the good cold stinging blood
The smooth hissing snakes of rain . . .
Once I had, a little game
I liked to crawl back into my brain
I think you know the game I mean
I mean the game called 'go insane'
Now you should try this little game
Just close your eyes forget your name
Forget the world forget the people
And we'll erect a different steeple
This little game is fun to do
Just close your eyes no way to lose
And I'm right there I'm going too
Release control we're breaking through
Way back deep into the brain
Back where there's never any pain
And the rain falls gently on the town
And in the labyrinth of streams
Beneath, the quiet unearthly presence of
Nervous hill dwellers in the gentle hills around
Reptiles abounding
Fossils, caves, cool air heights
Each house repeats a mold
Windows rolled
Beast car locked in against morning
All now sleeping
Rugs silent, mirrors vacant
Dust blind under the beds of lawful couples
Wound in sheets
And daughters, smug
With semen eyes in their nipples
Wait
There's been a slaughter here
(Don't stop to speak or look around
Your gloves and fan are on the ground
We're getting out of town
We're going on the run
And you're the one I want to come
Not to touch the earth
Not to see the sun
Nothing left to do, but
Run, run, run
Let's run
House upon the hill
Moon is lying still
Shadows of the trees
Witnessing the wild breeze
C'mon baby run with me
Let's run
Run with me
Run with me
Run with me
Let's run
The mansion is warm, at the top of the hill
Rich are the rooms and the comforts there
Red are the arms of luxuriant chairs
And you won't know a thing till you get inside
Dead president's corpse in the driver's car
The engine runs on glue and tar
C'mon along, we're not going very far
To the East to meet the Czar
Some outlaws lived by the side of the lake
The minister's daughter's in love with the snake
Who lives in a well by the side of the road
Wake up, girl! We're almost home
Sun, sun, sun
Burn, burn, burn
Soon, soon, soon
Moon, moon, moon
I will get you
Soon!, Soon!, Soon!
Let the carnival bells ring
Let the serpent sing
Let everything
We came down
The rivers and highways
We came down from
Forests and falls
We came down from
Carson and Springfield
We came down from
Phoenix enthralled
And I can tell you
The names of the Kingdom
I can tell you
The things that you know
Listening for a fistful of silence
Climbing valleys into the shade
I am the Lizard King
I can do anything
I can make the earth stop in its tracks
I made the blue cars go away
For seven
years I dwelt
In the loose palace of exile
Playing strange games
With the girls of the island
Now I have come again
To the land of the fair, and the strong, and the wise
Brothers and sisters of the pale forest
O Children of Night
Who among you will run with the hunt?
Now Night arrives with her purple legion
Retire now to your tents and to your dreams
Tomorrow we enter the town of my birth
I want to be ready'
Come on, turn the lights out, man
Turn it way down
Hey Mister Lightman
You gotta turn those lights way down, man!
Hey, I'm not kidding, you gotta turn the lights out
Come on!
What do we care...?
This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my ownly friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes again
Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need of some stranger's hand
In a desperate land
Come on, baby!
And we were in this house and there was a sound like
silverware being dropped on linoleum, and then
somebody ran into the room and they said
"Have you seen the accident outside?"
And everybody said:
"Hey man, have you seen the accident outside?"
Have you seen the accident outside
Seven people took a ride
Six bachelors and their bride
Seven people took a ride
Sever people died
Don't let me die in an automobile
I wanna lie in an open field
Want the snakes to suck my skin
Want the worms to be my friends
Want the birds to eat my eyes
As here I lie
The clouds fly by
Ode to a grasshopper...
I think I'll open a little shop,
A little place where they sell things
And I think I'll call it "Grasshopper"...
I have a big green grasshopper out there
Have you seen my grasshopper, mama?
Looking real good...
(Oh, I blew it, it's a moth)
That's alright, he ain't got long to go, so we'll forgive him.
Ensenada
The dog crucifix
The dead seal
Ghosts of the dead car sun
Stop the car
I'm getting out, I can't take it
Hey, look out, there's somebody coming
And there's nothing you can do about it...
The killer awoke before dawn
He put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he...he walked on down the hallway, baby
Came to a door
He looked inside
Father?
Yes, son?
I wanna kill you
Mother...I want to...
Fuck you, mama, all night long
Beware, mama
Gonna love you, baby, all night
Come on, baby, take a chance with us
Come on, baby, take a chance with us
Come on, baby, take a chance with us
Meet me at the back of the blue bus
Meet me at the back of the blue bus,
Blue rock,
Blue bus,
Blue rock
Blue bus.
Kill! Kill!
This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend, the end
Hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft cries
The end of nights we tried to die
This is the end
My name is the holy shah
I come to town this day
To tell my story to the judge
Judge, judge, judge, judge
The man is not wanted here
Come to our house say the Mandarino
And tell us why it is you stray so near
Why you run away so fast and come back slow
In the middle of the sun
In the middle of the day
When even an idiot goes indoors
Under waterfall, Under waterfall
The girls return from summer balls
Let's steal the eye that sees us all
I was doing time in the universal mind.
I was feeling fine.
I was turning keys, I was setting people free.
I was doing all right.
Chorus: Then you came along
With a suitcase and a song,
Turned my head around.
Now I'm so alone
Just looking for a home
In every place I see.
I'm the freedom man X3
That's how lucky I am.
I was doing time in the universal mind.
I was feeling fine.
I was turning keys, I was setting people free.
I was doing all right.
Chorus
I'm the freedom man.
I was doing time in the universal mind.
I was feeling fine.
I was turning keys, I was setting people free.
I was doing all right.
Chorus
I'm the freedom man X3
Whiskey, Mystics And Men
Well, I’ll tell you a story
of whiskey and mystics and men,
And about the believers and
how the whole thing began.
First there were women and
children obeying the moon,
Then daylight brought wisdom
and fever and sickness too soon.
You can try to remind me
instead of the other, you can.
You can help to insure
that we all insecure our command.
If you don’t give a listen,
I won’t try to tell your new hand.
This is it; can’t you see
that we all have our ends in the band.
And if all of the teachers and
preachers of wealth were arraigned,
We could see quite a future
for me in the literal sands.
And if all the people
could claime to inspect such regrets,
well, we’d have no forgiveness,
forgetfullness, faithful remorse.
So I tell you, I tell you,
I tell you we must send away.
We must try to find a
new answer instead of a way.
( Elias McDaniel )
I walked 47 miles on barbed-wire,
Got a cobra-snake for a necktie.
I built a house by the roadside,
Made of rattlesnake hide.
Got a brand new chimney up on top,
Made out of human skulls.
Come on baby take a walk with me,
And tell me who do you love?
Who do you love? X3
Tombstone head and a graveyard mind,
I'm just 22 and I don't mind dying.
Rode around the town with a rattlesnake whip,
Come on baby don't give me no lip.
Who do you love? X3
The night is dark, the sky was blue,
Down the alley the ice wagon flew.
Hit a bump, somebody screamed,
You should'a heard just what I seen.
Who, baby, who do you love?
What do you love, now?
Love, love, love me girl.
Love, love, love me darling.
Who
scared you
Who scared you and why were you born, my
babe?
In two-time's arms with all of your charms, my love.
Why were you born, just to play with me,
To freak out or to be beautiful, my dear?
Load your head, blow it up, feeling good, baby
Load your head, blow it up, feeling good, baby.
Well my room is so cold, you know you don't have to go, my babe.
And if you want it up right, I'm gonna love you tonight, my love.
Well I'm glad that we came, I hope you're feeling the same.
Who scared you and why were you born? Please stay.
I see your rider coming down the road.
Got a virgin carrying a heavy load,
One sack of silver and one bag of gold.

Our love's in jeopardy
Sit up all night, talking, smoking
Count the dead & wait for morning
Will warm names & faces come again
Does the silver forest end
Woman in the window
I am the woman in the window
See the children playing
Soldier, sailor, young man on your way to the summer swimming pool
Can you see me standing in my window
Can you hear me laughing
Come up stairs sir to your room
And I will play for you
On dreamland, golden sceneland
Try to sleepland take us to dreamland
I am unhappy far from my woman
Take me to dreamland, land of the bannion
Land of plentiful pleasures of pine
Potatoes on tables laden with good things
Eat at my table, she cried to the vineyards
Calling the workers home from the meadows
Man you are evil, get out of my garden
Ours is a good place, home of the reindeer
Sell me your pony, your fast golden pony
I need his strength and his terrible footsteps
Riding the prairie, just me and my angel
Just try and stop us we're going to love
Open your window, women of Palastine
Throw down your rayment and cover us over
Woman Is A Devil
Me and the devil,
Walking side by side.
Me and the devil,
Going to take you on a long and evil ride.
The woman is a devil,
That's what I've been told.
Woman is a devil,
That's what I've been told.
She'll take all your money,
Then she'll spend all your gold.
All right.
The devil is a woman.
She's a woman.
Well I play my acts, honey
She take the whole damn role.
Keep on going, now, come on.
All right play it, yeah.
One more time.
Well she feel like dying.
Only twenty-one.
Well she feel like dying,
But she's only twenty-one.
She's not the only,
She's not the only one.
All right, all right, all right.
All right, all right.
Gonna save the whole world.
All right.
