Isnt everybody these days.
But seriously, why is that every female singer/songwriter gets compared to Patti Smith, PJ Harvey and (especially lately) Chan. Are these critcs just lacking in imagination or something? I can understand it when they say that Peyroux sounds like Billie Holiday because she sounds exactly like her but just comparing everybody to Chan Marshall or PJ Harvey is just ridiculous.
Chan, PJ and Patti are far too individual and unique to be compared with anybody.

I don't know... I don't know those artists enough to make a correct comparison... (Cat Power I listened to it... a little, I like some songs... some I don't... PJ Harvey is on my "to check out" list for some time now... and Martha Wainwright I have sme songs I haven't listened to yet...)

To me its just humorous that the comparisons are made at all. Martha Wainwright is similar to Cat Power and PJ Harvey? I don't think so. It's just because they're all female and the critics think its funny making non-existent comparisons. It's like saying cheese tastes the same as ham. Ridiculous.
