and EMI are proud to present the new album from songwriter and singer Holly
Throsby. The album, A Loud Call, follows on from 2006's ARIA-nominated Under the

brick house on a leafy street in Nashville, Tennessee, in the early weeks of
last November by engineer and producer Mark Nevers (Lambchop, Bonnie ‘Prince’
Billy, Andrew Bird). Switching between her travelers guitar and a grand piano,
Holly was accompanied by her long-time band - Bree van Reyk (drums, organ,
accordion) and Jens Birchall (cello, bass, mandolin). The album also includes
performances from a handful of very special guests including Bonnie ‘Prince’
Billy (singing duet on ‘Would You?’) and members of Lambchop and The Silver Jews

We're good people but
why don't we show it
Old lover, you miss me
Over the ocean
I hope this finds you well
Warm sun on my back
The earth on its axis
The violence when we met
We're good people
But why don’t we show it
Dead birds on the stairwell
Some ugly morning
Fell from their nests
No, don't tell your parents
When we start sharing
Each other's beds
We're good people
But why don't we show it
We're good people
But why don't we show it
I want to raise dogs
Dogs and money
Stop threatening to leave town
And I'll stop running
We're good people
But why don't we show it
We're good people
But why don't we show it
Up with
the birds
She won't find out
And he wouldn't know
And I'm not jealous
Not at all
On the landing
The chairs on the lawn
Out the windows
And through the doors
I'm not jealous
No, not at all
We're up early
We're up with the birds
They don't mind us
Not at all
By the bedside
And down on the floor
He won't find out
And she won't know
We're not jealous
No, not at all
We just feel a little itching in our bones
We're not jealous
No, not at all
We just feel a little itching in our bones
We're not jealous
No, not at all
We're up early
We're up with the birds
We're up early
We're up with the birds
We're up early
We're up with the birds
We're up early
We're up with the birds
Things
between People
He usually brings the car around
And parks it outside our house
And he talks to me of loneliness
And the feeling's all 'round
So he takes out all these women
But he doesn't feel a thing
And he thinks there's something missing
Or there's something wrong with him
'Cause he reels them in
And he reels them out again
All these old mistakes, they
They catch us up
The same old patterns form again
Till every day, every day
Feels the same
Every day, feels the same
And every day, feels the same
I usually bring the car out front
And she gathers up and finds her things
While he can't see where his friends stop
And his lovers begin
He says "I cannot be around you
Because god knows it hurts
But I cannot be without you
Because it's much, much worse"
So he reels me in
And he reels me out again
All these old mistakes, they
They catch us up
The same old patterns form again
Till every day, every day
Feels the same
And every day, feels the same
And every day, feels the same
And he reels me in
And he reels me out again
And I reel her in
And I reel her out again
Reel her in, reel her out again
Till every day, feels the same
And every day, feels the same
Waiting
all night for you to come home
If I wait any longer the world could've ended
And the moon it takes hours to come around
Me and my watch, we're getting connected
We play at who can stare the other one out
I hear for the car to pull into the driveway
And the moon it threatens to finish its rounds
The ads on the TV are all ten-digit numbers
And pieces of skin that aren't usually allowed
And we've been moving around
In these same walls again
It couldn't be any longer
And it's just a kind of death now
And we've been moving around
In these same walls again
And it couldn't be any longer
I'm back in here again
If I wait any longer the world could've ended
And the moon it takes hours to come around
And me and my watch, we're getting connected
We play at who can stare the other one out
And we've been moving around
In these same walls again
It couldn't be any longer
And it's just a kind of death now
And we've been moving around
In these same walls again
And it couldn't be any longer
I'm back in here again
And we've been moving around
But I'm back in here again
And we've been moving around
But I'm back in here again
And we've been moving around
But I'm back in here again
And we've been moving around
But I'm back in here again
And we've been moving around
But I'm back in here again
But it's just a kind of death now
It's just a kind of death now
It's just a kind of death now
It's just a kind of death
Damn that
new body
Your old door's closed
To your room, to your house, to your home
And a new body keeps you warm
I know what I said I'd feel
But I don't
Some
nights are long
Look for a sign in a window
An ad in the paper
A job waiting tables
Tie on an apron for
Change in my pocket
Spend at the shops
And study the docket
I can be honest
I can respond
Hold my own
And take on what comes
And save it for later
Be restrained
Make up my mind
And then want to change it
Nights are long
They creep up upon us
Like a storm
When nothing's in order
These little thoughts
They buzz like a train
Find my page
And turn them again and again
Oh I guess I got lost
I must've forgot it
It's just been so hot
I make all my choices
On coins I can toss
On coins for the washing
To slide in the slots
I can be honest
I can be strong
And wait for all those
Letters to come
Peel off the labels
Check the dates
Order my days and
Then rearrange them
Nights are long
They creep up upon us
Like a storm when
Nothing's in order
These little thoughts
They buzz like a train
Lock the doors and
Wait for the sun to come up again
The
Morning
Night's gone and morning's come
We're rolling over, waking up
And I swing, swing these days along
Counting moments, missing home
We follow love
We think it makes us strong
All these years, love
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
Like you, this bird it flew
It misses like I'm missing you
And we drink, drink
We throw them down
We're better off
We're better now
We follow love
We think it makes us strong
And all these years, love
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
We follow love
We think it makes us
Strong, strong, strong
And all these years, love
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
How could we be
Wrong, wrong, wrong
Don't be
howling
I get home after one
And the dog looks drunk
He should walk it off
With that little strut, he does
Yes, I dug up the dirt and
Heard from little birds who'd gotten hurt
That you were mean before me, love
You could throw a stone
But can't we all
So we man our shops and
Fix up where the kids have picked the locks
And then the moon makes wolves of us
And we battle lust
But don't follow me now
Don't be howling
You're too much, you're too soon
And you want me to come up to your room
And I, well I want to too
But I'm with him and you're with you
And now what do we do now
The world throws up a hundred little clues
And they all seem as doomed as us
And it cuts and cuts
But don't follow me now
Don't be howling
And don't follow me now
'Cause the feelings turn
And the turning hurts
The wings of birds
And the arms of girls
You've gone and lost your shoes
And now you curse me and I curse you
You're gone in the woods
And now you're hurting and I hurt too
You've gone and got me good
You know you got me good
And you knew you would
But don't follow me now
Don't be howling
And don't follow me now
'Cause the feelings turn
And the turning hurts
The wings of birds
And the arms of girls
Some days
are long
All these times behind us
They, they go on by so fast
We like this fine old house around us
Look at how it lasts
Just like us it lasts
And I hold on to you
'Cause I get so frightened
That I just can’t get things right
And you slowly slip your hand from mine
'Cause you're forcing me to try
Yeah you're forcing me to try
And some days are long
They make the nights seem ages away
And I work so I'll be strong
Not to hold you down but to let you go
Not to hold you down but to let you go
From time to time those letters arrive
And I say "go if you want to go"
And the phone might ring for me late at night
And you say "He can call if he wants to call
It's ok to call who you want to call"
And some days are long
They make the nights seem ages away
And I work so I'll be strong
Not to hold you down but to let you go
Not to hold you down but to let you go
I don't want to weigh you down baby
I don't want us sinking like stones
I don't want to be kicking myself when you're gone
Some days are long
And old age is ages away
So I'll work while I'm still young
Not to hold you down but to let you go
Not to hold you down but to let you go
As The
Night Dies
Babe, it's so hard to be honest
As the crow lies
Babe, I've been known to be careless
I've made dogs cry
And I've thrown logs on the fire
And burnt like a fight in the night
Is it too much for you
Is it, well alright
Babe, here's the sound of the morning
As the night dies
And soon there'll be coffeepots calling
And the sunrise
And no, no replies
When you say "please", I say "be" you say "mine"
Is it too much for you
Is it, well alright
Babe, is it too much for you
Is it, well alright

Under the Town
Without a sound
My old hound sleeps in the ground
Under the house
Under the town
An arrow is loud
Shivered and stuck in the mouth
And my heart's an apple
Red, round and you shot it out
You shot it out
And what do the shot dream about
A millpond, a stillborn, a house
Where everything sings out
Yes you shot it out
And what do the shot dream about
A millpond, a stillborn, a house
Where everything sings out
Where everything sings out
Making a
Fire
It's cold out but I don't mind it
I'm making a fire
Out of what I might find here
The old and the dying
We don't want them coming in
No
Their heavy machinery
Messing up our young thinking
All night long
Now I'm here
And you're here
Now I'm here
And you're here
We're here, we're here
We're here, we're here
It's cold out
It's bitter winter
We're making a fire
Amidst the spitting winds
Our eyes all be wild
And our hearts
Hear our hearts beat higher
We have such an appetite
And I can be kind and kinder
I'll be kind all night
Now I'm here
And you're here
Now I'm here
And you're here
We're here, we're here
We're here, we're here
The wind and the woods are warring
They're fighting the brightest fight
But oh no, now don't you worry
I'll be kind all night
I'll be kind all night
Now I'm here
And you're here
Now I'm here
And you're here
We're here, we're here
We're here, we're here
We're here, we're here
We're here, we're here
If We Go
Easy
Stay while all the ships go
Sailing on out to sea
Stay for our lonesome window
That nobody else sees through
Aglow by the stove in the morning
Our backs against the fence
Nobody says they are sorry
And nobody gives in
We could stay playing games, babe
And always losing
Or if you go easy on me
Then I might go easy on you
If you go easy on me
Honey, do it
Honey, do it
They've already been
That old swarm of bees
Many friends and enemies
Eating and drinking
We're picking up all of our things
And going on home in the van
Moving about in the kitchen
With bottles and cans
I'm your old lady
And baby, you're my old man
And if we go easy now
Well it just might be easier then
If we go easy now
Well maybe then, maybe then
I'm your old lady
And baby, you're my old man
And if we go easy now
Well it just might be easier then
If we go easy now
Well maybe then, maybe then
And if you go easy on me
Then I might go easy on you
If you go easy on me
Honey, do it
Honey, do it
Do it, do it
On Longing
This is all my fault
I have many things done wrong
I've been longing for a dove
Or an olive in a cup
I'm so sorry, sorry love
I want us to make up
I blush, I blush
Don't envy me none
I've been longing for a gun
Or an awning to hang from
I'm so sorry, sorry love
That some dawns
I want to be gone
But then the sun goes up and up
And I am lying in it some
I've been longing for someone
They will come in and I'll sit up
And I'll say
Sorry, sorry love,
Whatever took me so long
And I'll say
Sorry, sorry love,
Whatever took me so long
I Worry Very
Well
Oh, can't you tell
That I worry very well
Oh old friend, how I fret
Things you wouldn't want to wrestle
The hills below sloping
Down to the beach
And here's here's here's hoping
Our young bodies will keep
Oh, can't you tell
That I worry very well
Old friend, how I fret
Like you wouldn't want to know it
So might you leave
Us all to grieve
Saying, so passed a man
So passed my darling
Me and my brother
Driving the truck
Thinking whatever
Smoking and such
Oh mother, don't worry
We are kids in the dust
Oh mother, don't worry
I am not like he was
There're animals crossing
And we're waving them on
Patiently waiting
We are wishing them well
Come Visit
I want you to come
Across the coast and the sea between us
Sills filled with sun
And engines are on
I have been gone
Back at home where it's covered in snow
And I know, I know
That you're spoken for
So I could get cut
Like the heads of the deer on the wall
They didn't run
Fast enough
Now their dear old eyes never shut
They make lonely old hunters of us
Covered in dust
Dust to dust
Dust to dust
But I can be strong
And I'll fight anybody for love
But maybe you won't
And we'll never know
Maybe you won't
Come visit at all
Swing On
On we go
Skin and bone
Underneath our winter coats
Unlike them, many men
I don't care we're going nowhere
Oh swing on, oh swing on
Oh swing on, swing on
Swing on, let's not go home
I'm slowing down
And drinking up
But only what fits in a cup
I have some friends and loves
And all our hearts have been beat up on
But oh, they beat on
Oh swing on, oh swing on
Swing on, swing on
Let's not go home
Him or her
Sticks or stones
Him and her
Skin and bone
Swing on, swing on
Swing on
Let's not go home
Oh swing on, swing on
Swing on
The
Shoulders and Bends
Driving at night
Pedal down in the dark
Rabbits they run out
Look at them go so fast
And some of them old
Some of them young like us
Be careful now little ones
This is a weapon, this car
And so much depends upon
The shoulders and bends
So much depends upon
The wheels as they spin
And we could be anyone
Or do anything
I'm trying to trust you
But I just don't know where you've been
And both of us fighting now
Oh honey, look at us
Horses are running
They're shooting on past like stars
And Lord, could they drag us
Or could they tear us apart
Or are you the wicked one
Are you the hoof in my heart
And all this depends upon
The shoulders and bends
So much depends upon
The wheels as they spin
And we could be anyone
Or do anything
I'm trying to trust you
But I just don't know where you've been
Cold, cold feet between us
I've got cold feet
So baby, warm them up
Baby, be my shoes and socks
And let me trust you
And so much depends upon
The wheels as they spin
We could be anyone
Or do anything
I'm trying to trust you
But I just don't know where you've been
What
Becomes of Us
It is early
You are dead
There are crows
In our bed
But I won't come undone
We are done, we are done
There is air still
In my lungs
I will get up and get on
With the other mouths and tongues
And the work there is to be done
This is what becomes of us
There are dim things in the pond
There is dust under the rug
And I don't ever know
What's below, what's below
But I am up
I am above
I have a, a new love
And it's warm like a gun
Or a knife that I fell on
This is what becomes of us
This is what becomes of us
I was not ready
You won't be back
I was not ready
And this is what becomes of us
This is what becomes of us
Only a
Rake
If only you'd stay
In the water
To wade
It's only a rake
In the garden I made
It's only a rake
A dead dirty spade
It's enough to win me
Or dig me a grave
If only you'd wait
With a bottle
Where you lay
It's only a day
A tomorrow away
It's only a day
It's what these hours make
It's enough to win me
Or make everything change
If only you'd play
I have made up a game
You give chase
And a message
And wait
If only you'd play
Hammer and nail
It's enough to win me
Or send me away

Warm Jets
We all lack, I know
But babe, I've got your back, you know
And I made a little pact and it goes
Under my skull
With all my plans and woes
And the nerves that move my hands and toes
And the nerves that make me nervous
Under my skull
Warm jets
Climbing overhead
And out there
I know this and that
I know this and that
About love
I know that there's your body
And mine in tow
We are swimming to the surface
Up from below
And some things give us a scare
They catch us unawares
Like the beating, saying "yes"
Under my chest
Warm beds
Hiding us in them
And out there
I know this and that
I know this and that
A Heart
Divided
I want to know
I want to know what you know, know
I want to go
Where do you go
I want to go where you go when you're gone
I've longed all along but I cannot
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find you
I have a hope
Hope all alone
A little bone all along in the yard
A little bone
Old and discarded, oh
And I don't know
What do you know
Well I don't know if we'll float or be gone
A boat in the storm all a loss
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find you
A whole heart divides
A heart divides
Like the wings
Of a bird in flight
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find
And so I have, a heart divided
Although I have longed to find you
Although I have longed to find you
Now I Love
Someone
Old lock, old door
Old yard, overgrown
I'm up, up and gone
So long, so long
For now I love someone
And our love is a song
That we sing, that's been sung
By our parents and their parents
And they swear it and we swear it now
Now we love someone
We both bellow "Hello!"
We both bellow "Hello"
I don't want no
No "I guess sos"
Just yeses or instead
So long, so long
And you don't love no one
'Cause my wins are your wins
In the sleet, in the spring
And your losses are my losses
When you're opposite me only
Now we love somebody
We both bellow "Hello!"
We both bellow "Hello! How are you"
How are you, how are you
Hello, how are you
How are you, how are you
Hello, how are you
How are you, how are you
Hello, how are you
How are you
We both bellow "Hello!"
We both bellow "Hello"
On The Wharf
When it's old, when it's old
When it's begged and hollow and sold
When it's time, when it's time
When there's no sweet fish on my line
They don't bite, they don't bite
Not like my dreams in the night
Where I'd try and I'd try
But I wouldn't know how to fight
When I'm bold, when I'm bold
I could skin, and scale and, you, hold
On the wharf, on the wharf
With my legs hanging over the water
They don't bite, they don't bite
Not like my dreams in the night
Where I'd try and I'd try
But I wouldn't know how to fight
When I'm old, when I'm old
When I'm built upon and grown over
When I'm stopped like a clock
That's hands got slower and slower
I won't mind
I won't mind no more dreams in the night
Where I'd try and I'd try
But I wouldn't know how to fight
From the wharf to the boat
Oh, don't you know
Oh, there she blows
There she blows
The Time
It Takes
Glowing in the evening sky
So well, so well
Stars that have already died
Oh well, oh well
They're glowing
And we know dear that they fell
They're glowing
And we know dear that they fell
The time it takes to make hearts break
Is the same as for a falling man to fall
The sound it makes
The bitter call of a log that was sawn off with a saw
A log that was sawn off with a saw
Swimming in the lake
It's like a well, a well
And there're some things I felt
I just couldn't tell you
I couldn't tell
And there're some things we believe in
And we yell
There're some things we believe in
And we yell
The time it takes to make hearts break
Is the same as for a girl to skip a stone
And any chore, or a shirt on the floor
Is enough to make a person feel alone
Enough to make a person feel alone
There're some things we believe in and we yell
There're some things we believe in and we yell
The time it takes to make hearts break
Is the same as for you, babe, to walk away
And all it takes is a little shake
By a man or a woman or a grave
A man or a woman or a grave
Would You
Would you
Would you
Would you
Would you
Want somebody new
Would you want somebody new
Would you
"No, I don't want somebody new"
Would you
"No, I don't want somebody new"
We don't want somebody new
Would you
Would you
Would you
Would you
Stay even though I'm blue
Would you stay even though I'm blue
Would you
"Yes, I'll stay even though you're blue"
Would you
"Yes, I'll stay even though you're blue"
I'll stay even though you're blue
I don't want somebody new
One Of You
For Me
I’ll make it good and bad
All the engines soar across the land
On we go
And I know we stood, stand
With only lonely stories in our heads
On we go
But I know there’s one of you
I know there’s one of you for me
I know there’s one of you
I know there’s one of you for me
To make it good and bad
Fiery water rolla across the land
So we know
That in our hearts and heads
It's only so long before we know it
On we go
I know there’s one of you
I know there’s one of you for me
I know there’s one of you
I know there’s one of you for me
I know there’s one of you
I know there’s one of you for me
I know there’s one of you
I know there’s one of you for me
So don’t desert love
We Carry
One, two, three
Thoughts not remembered right
And tears were yet to cry
We carry, we carry
Among the winter pines
Long before my time
To marry, me married
Just like a lover does
I loved him
My whole life
Just like a dozen others I did
Too young to know my mind
Too young to know my mind
Hands on hands of mine
Holding on too tight
We carry, we carry
And after starry night
The ashes of our fire
We buried, we buried
Just like a lover does
I loved him
My whole life
Just like a dozen others I did
Too young to know my mind
Too young to know my mind
Just like a lover does
I loved him
My whole life
Just like a dozen others I did
Too young to know my mind
Too young to know my mind
*** Thanx a lot to Jose from the forum for this one ***
And Then We're Gone
How will I see the day in
Will I go wandering
Go on breathing in and out
Think a thought, make a sound
How're we going to meet our ends
I'm always wondering
The whole town falling down
A star spinning to the ground
And all I ever want is for someone to come in
And look me over and bring me along
To wherever they're going
And then we're gone
The wind is going to be blowing
And I'll be trembling
The dog makes a little moan
And the gravel makes a road
How're we going to meet our ends
How're we going to meet our ends
All I ever want is for someone to hold on to
Under the covers, the wind took our souls
They're gone and we don't want them back at all
We don't want them back at all
We call and we call and we call out
And ours is a loud call
A Widow's Song
Bring me back something
Bring me back something
All I have is time like an echo in a tin
Oh, bring me back something
While the garden grows
Remind me where it is
Remind me where it is
Remind me where it is, for my mind is like a sieve
Oh, remind me where it is
While the garden grows
I'm growing a dozen roses
Roses are all I hear
I've only one winter coat and
I'm one step behind you dear
I'm one step behind you dear
Wild were we then
Wild were we then
Wild was my mind,
Oh, when you were looking in one me
Wild were we then
Like the garden grows
I'm growing a dozen roses
Roses are all I hear
I've only one winter coat and
I'm one step behind you dear
I'm one step behind you dear
To Begin With
Home is a word that I've never known
Lodged, something caught in the back of my throat
A word is a word but I've had no luck
A stove of broken yolks, belly-up
We're only a shell in the end
And only an egg to begin with
I know what I know and I've said and done
Some things just for fun and some for love
And outside the water is rough
But warm enough
We're only a sail in the end
And only a breath to begin with
If you don't throw a stone in nobody's pond
You'll only grow up alone
And so it is so, since I was young:
A hole's for digging up
And a bowl's for eating out of
And just one boat is enough to hold us up
We're only a sail in the end
And only a breath to begin with

What I thought of
You
A miner in a mine
Couldn't find what I thought of you
A light, all the lights
Couldn't shine on what I thought of you
A crow on a log
All agog with what I thought of you
Belief, oh blind belief
Can't believe what I thought of you
And I could fly
I could fly
First we live
And then we die
Alive, a world alive
Living by what I thought of you
One police, ten police
Throw their shields at what I thought of you
Balloons, an iron lung
And those in the womb
Hold their breath for you
And every chair
Every chair and table set
Spread their legs for you
Alive, a world alive
Living by what I thought of you
I, I could fly
We could fly
We could've fallen...
It's Only
Need
I see, you're a soldier soldiering
A bee, a hard worker, working
Through the lot you move so easy
But don't you get lonely, baby
Me, I am always waking up
I've been stuck here in my body
I said, "I need only you and me"
You said, "You're too needy for me"
We saw a thing this morning
Oh, my eyes
Geese, strewn along the road
Well, we can only see to it
That they're buried six feet deep
R.I.P.
R.I.P.
And I want to know many a thing
There is many a thing to know
R.I.P.
I kick down the road, my weary eyes
I bit down to restore my sight
You said, "You need only be set free"
I said, "You're too needy for me"
But it's only need
It's only need
Here Is My
Co-Pilot
This is the call, call, call
Let it be known, known, known
That I say, I know we could
I know we could, be good, be good
Here is my co-pilot
On this here mountain top
We could, I've not forgot
And I say, I know we could
It's on my hook
It's in my books
And I surely would
Here is the team I've got
Here is my co-pilot
Here it's in my blood
We all laugh out loud
With our funny crowd
And you say, "Oh my Lord"
I know we could, be good, be good
And I surely would
Here is the team I've got
Here is my co-pilot
Here it's in my blood
We're dangerous
And you're very nice
And very good
And now we could
And now we could
And I surely would
Here is the team I've got
Here is my co-pilot
Here it's in my blood
Here is the team I've got
Here is my co-pilot
Here it's in my blood
Hi, You
Reckless Darling
Hi, you reckless darling
I am on my own
I loved
I loved so much I swallowed
Whole, the anchor and the boat
And I, I cannot but follow
My, my smarter friends' advice
And I, I thought that you would save me
From the needle in my eye
It's Funny
It's funny
Oh to be, oh to be a century
With the people I see go by
I should die, I should die of the oddity
See, I can't believe my eyes
I can't believe my eyes
The morning
When you walked, when you walked me to the door
And kicked me to the curb
I might get as high, get as high as the circling birds
Who are lost for words, so nice
To be lost for words is so nice
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Two-timed, two-timed
Tongue-tied, tongue tied
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Two-timed, two-timed
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
It's funny,
Oh to know, oh to know in my very bones
That you're truly gone
Outside, where it's wild, where it's wild
Where people drift apart like snow
And see everything differently
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Too tired, too gone
Goodbye, so long
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Tongue-tied, tongue-tied
Too tired, too gone
Goodbye, so long
To See You
Out
Ready to go, my party clothes
Right now, right now, ready to go
Into the night
Oh, starry night
Down the road, and now and now
I go out, I go out
I see you, I see you
Good to be out, good to be out
I see you, you see me
You see me, you see me
I freak out, freak out
I freak out, freak out
To see you, to go out
To be you, to see out
I freak out, freak out
I freak out, freak out
To see out, to be out
To see you, to see you
I freak out, freak out
Go out, go out
Out in the town, not long ago
And there was I, in my party clothes
Where people go, the theatre show
And now, to know
And now and now
I see you, I see you
To be out, to be out
Good to be out, good to be out
I see you, you see me
You see out, you see me
I freak out, freak out
I freak out, freak out
To see you into the eye
To go out, into the wild
I freak out, freak out
I freak out, freak out
To see you in the eye
To be out in the wild
Freak out, freak out
I freak out, freak out
Come Back
To See Me
There's a cold wind
Blowing on me
And the buildings
The buildings and trees
Oh, so lonely
Come back to see me
I've been joking
I've been shooting the breeze
I've been looking
But always I'm really so lonely
Come back to see me
I won't think a little thing
We're only as free as leaving
So lonely
Come back to see my everything
All the old things
Are still new to me
All the buildings
This is the city I sleep in
Come back to see me
I won't think a little thing
We're only as free as leaving
So lonely
Come back to see my everything
My everything
Waiting
For Me
My one true love is waiting for me
One blue lung with no breath in it
I'm sorry for things
For a graze on a lip
For a song that I sing
For a feeling I get
My once full cup is empty
I'm tired
Oh oracle, come and help me be wise
Come on, help me be wise
My one true love is waiting for me
On the other side of all of this
I'm not sorry for things
For a feeling I give
I'm not sorry for this
For a feeling I get
My once full cup is empty
I'm tired
Oh oracle, come and help me be wise
Come on, help me be wise
My once full cup is empty
I'm tired
Oh oracle, come and help me be wise
Come on, help me be wise
We Are
Glowing
I know, I know
What I should've done
I know, I know
But I hated to
We are glowing
Live two ghosts
We are glowing
How we shone
Like a comet, like a torch
I would like to find how to ignite you
(If I could only be an owl then I would always see
If I could only, if I could only, if I could only, if I could only)
I know, I know
If only I could've done
I came, I looked
At flaming wood
We are glowing
Live two ghosts
We are glowing
How we shone
Like a comet, like a torch
I would like to find how to ignite you
(If I could only be an owl then I would always see
If I could only, if I could only, if I could only, if I could only)
Like a comet, like a torch
I would like to find how to ignite you
When
When will I be over this
A body on a wing
When will I see you
And feel none of anything
When the stars run out of gas
When the bluebirds leave my chest
When the warriors make amends
And I can stop pretending
When, when
When will I be over you
My body on the wing
When will I think of you
And feel none of anything
When the horses lay to rest
When the pears fall off the branch
When the bells no longer ring
And I can stop pretending
When, when
When the bees no longer sting
When the bells no longer ring
When all my ships come in
And I can stop pretending
When, when

Bring Me Back
Sarah Blasko :
Bring me back to where I've been
If you sing that song, it'll take me there
Right back where it all began
But please do hold my trembling hands
Mother I do miss her so
Oh I wish I was a little girl
Still a spark in my father's eyes
But I feel a loss without her smile
Send me out into the world
I am going there to break a spell
Mother I do have her hands
I will use them well, I promise that
Knowing well what I do now
I will overcome what holds me down
Light All
My Lights
Sarah Blasko :
I long for a spark, for a light
A dawn for my long, sleepless nights
And you keep them high on me tonight
And we'll be a light all of our lives
Oh, won't you come
Won't you light all my lights
Oh, won't you come
Won't you fight all my fights
Fight all my fights
So long
And we'll all be so strong
We'll all be so strong
Oh, in the dark we could hide
But we're human
We're human, so we fight
And we can be higher than our hearts
And I'll be a fighter by your side
Oh, won't you come
Won't you light all my lights
Oh, won't you come
Won't you fight all my fights
Fight all my fights
So long
And we'll all be so strong
We'll all be so strong
Oh, won't you come
Won't you light all my lights
Oh, won't you come
Won't you fight all my fights
Fight all my fights
Fight all my fights
Fight all my fights
So long
And we'll all be so strong
We'll all be so strong
We'll all be so strong
We'll all be so strong
Even
Though I'm A Woman
Holly Throsby :
Oh oh I
I've got a secret
I think I'm in love with missing you
More than I'm in love with you
That's why I go away all the time
That's why I travel the world and roam free
This time you're leaving me
Oh this is how I feel
I feel like a travelling salesman
Even though I am a woman
Picking up my bags from the station
Standing there face to face
I'd be lying if I did not say
I love you more when I'm missing you
It's why I am always away
Believe me it's true
Oh oh I
I've got a secret
I think I was born to be in a state of longing
Born to be wanting, wanting
I put it in a letter for you
I love the danger in distance
This time I'm leaving you
Oh this is how I feel
I feel like a travelling salesman
Even though I am a woman
Picking up my bags from the station
Standing there face to face
I'd be lying if I did not say
I love you more when I'm missing you
It's why I am always away
Believe me it's true
Believe me it's true
Believe me it's true
I love the danger in distance
I'd rather be missing you
I love the danger in distance
I'd rather be missing you
I feel like a travelling salesman
Even though I am a woman
Picking up my bags from the station
Standing there face to face
I'd be lying if I did not say
I love you more when I'm missing you
It's why I am always away
Believe me it's true
Believe me it's true
Believe me it's true
Believe me it's true
Believe me it's true
Bridges
Burned
Sarah Blasko :
I'm waiting for something
I don't know what it is
I'm putting my boots on
I'm getting ready
The style and the substance
Is in a photograph
I pin it to my heart as a reminder
I've done my time
Paid for my crimes
Some bridges just burn
The world still turns for us
I'm waiting for something
I don't know where it lies
The shadow behind me
Won't hold me back this time
I take a step forward
For every word was said
And hope that it leads me
To better circumstance
I've done my time
Paid for my crimes
Some bridges just burn
The world still turns
'Cause I went the long way but now
I'm coming home
I went the wrong way
But I'm coming back stronger than before
Some bridges just burn
The world still turns
On My Own
Sally Seltmann :
I should be lost without you now
But it's easy on my own
So don't be waiting at your door
For me to come around
I've seen the sights, I've heard the sounds
I knew them as a child
I'm trusting what I knew then now
I'm looking for something
That's been buried underground
For years
And it's so old
That even I don't know if I will recognise it
Anymore, on my own
I should be calling out your name
But I've been that ball and chain
I've set my sights on something new
I can see it closer now
I'm breaking up, I'm wandering far
Take me away from you
There's so much that I've got to do
I'm looking for something
That's been buried underground
For years
And it's so old
That even I don't know if I will recognise it
Anymore, on my own
On my own
I'm looking for something
That's been buried underground
For years
And it's so old
That even I don't know if I will recognise it
Anymore
I'm searching, I'm waiting, I need time to find out
On my own, on my own, on my own
Rely On Me
Sarah Blasko :
And you know
You always can rely on, 'ly on
What you know of me
You can rely on, 'ly on
When you're gone
I always leave a light on, light on
When you're gone from me
Light on, light on
You know you can rely on
You know you can rely on, 'ly
You know you can rely on me
You can rely on, 'ly, 'y
And you know
You always have been right on, right on
All you long to be is right on, right on
When you're gone
I always leave a light on, light on
When you're gone from me
Light on, light on
You know you can rely on
You know you can rely on, 'ly
You know you can rely on me
You can rely on, 'ly, 'y
To know you
You know I only want to
To know you
You know I only want to...
You know you can rely on
You know you can rely on, 'ly
You know you can rely on me
You know you can rely on
You know you can rely on, 'ly
You know you can rely on me
You can rely on, 'ly...
Theme I
Here we go
One, Two, One, Two, Three
Sarah Blasko :
We exit this world alone
As fragile as we're born
A life just like a moment in time
Too vulnerable you chose to hide
It broke your heart to lose someone
As desperate as a loaded gun
You thought that you would learn to survive
To make your way alone in this life
I just want you to know
Wherever you go
It follows like a ghost
The burden's not just your own
If you're a seeker lover keeper
I've waited for this moment to arrive
When you let go to survive
Give it up and take it on
To open up and love someone
Scratch it off reveal new skin
Casting off what you held in
Life is just a moment in time
Too short to run and hide
I just want you to know
Wherever you go
It follows like a ghost
The burden's not just your own
If you're a seeker lover keeper
Seeker lover keeper
Seeker lover keeper
Seeker lover keeper
'Cause I just want you to know
Wherever you go
It follows like a ghost
The burden's not just your own
I just want you to know
How near or far you go
You'll never be alone
Your heart it has a home
If you're a seeker, a lover and a keeper
Every Time
Sally Seltmann :
You used to live so close to me
I could die
Call me up and bring me back to life
Friends far but never gone
I forgot to say that it's been too long, oh
Late nights and too much time
On my hands I lied
Awake with your song in my head
Give up but never lose out
'Cause I've got you by my side
This is how it should be
This is how it should be
This is how it should
Be, this is how
Every time, every time
I feel you're gone
I get your song in my head
It's my favourite one
Yeah every time, every time
I feel you're gone
I get your song in my head
It's my favourite one
Eyes shut I lay down still next to the speaker
I think about the times we've been together
Friend far but never gone
I forgot to say that it's been too long
This is how it should be
This is how it should be
This is how it should
Be, this is how
Every time, every time
I feel you're gone
I get your song in my head
It's my favourite one
Yeah every time, every time
I feel you're gone
I get your song in my head
It's my favourite one
The one you wrote
When you were away
My favourite song
Reminds me of
You, oh oh oh
This is how it should be
This is how it should be
This is how it should
Be, this is how
Every time, every time
I feel you're gone
I get your song in my head
It's my favourite one
Yeah every time, every time
I feel you're gone
I get your song in my head
It's my favourite one
The one you wrote
My favourite song
Reminds me of you
We Will
Know What It Is
Holly Throsby :
Two round little stones on the roof with us
We throw 'em off, perfectly in love
To the old ground below
And I say it's so, 'cause I say it's so
And oh, then we loosen up
We all loosen up with the setting sun
Aglow in our heart of hearts
Which shall beat for us, the club and club
You know what I'm thinking of
And I thought a lot, about the thoughts I've got
As the old wind blows
And we will know what it is
And we will know what it is
I no longer look in the branches of
A dozen fallen logs
For an answer, love
To my old aching heart
And my aching thoughts of a lover gone
And oh, then we loosen up and start saying stuff
We are saying stuff
Alone, in our common lots
Of "I want, I want, but I don't know what"
And won't till my soul dissolves
When my soul dissolves, like a setting sun
Or a falling stone
And we will know what it is
And we will know what it is
I want, I want, but I don't know what
And won't
I want, I want, but I don't know what
And won't
And we will know what it is
And we will know what it is...
If The
Night Is Dark
Sally Seltmann :
Cannot stick to one theme
Cannot stick to one plan
Cannot stick to one man
Always changing my mind
Always searching to find
Something I'll understand
Yeah, I'll travel the seas
I'll get down on my knees
I'll live passionately
I have the world in my hands
Will I break, will I stand strong
Am I gonna see what's out there for me
I might be right
I might be wrong
But I have no regrets
To lean upon
If the night is dark
Then this is my sun
This is my home
This is where I belong
This is where I belong
Well I'm trying to decide
Should I run, should I hide
Show them tricks and be tamed
Yeah, it's true that I've changed
But I'm also the same
I'm just playing the game
If you lay down beside me
You'll feel that I'm cold
And I'm empty, it's true
See the more I reveal
The more lonely I feel
What was one is now broken
Broken in two
I might be right
I might be wrong
But I have no regrets
To lean upon
If the night is dark
Then this is my sun
This is my home
This is where I belong
This is where I belong
This is where I belong
Going To
Sleep
Holly Throsby :
I do believe
That I am going
To sleep
So don't make a din
'Cause I'll be dreaming
That a wind welled up and took my eye out
And the storm took the roof with it
I do believe
That I want you
Around
We make our sounds
We make them out loud
But from a window sill I could be lost to you
From a branch you could be lost to me
Staring at the ceiling
And how
Trying to keep my feet on the ground
I do believe
That I'm dreaming aloud
When you're around
When we're about town
But from a window sill I could be lost to you
From a branch you could be lost to me
Rest Your
Head On My Shoulder
Sarah Blasko :
Rest your head on my shoulder
And I'll take care of your worries
It was you who promised this to me
It was you who offered me courage
In my darkest hour you can hear me
Softly question my travels
When doubt becomes me I'm troubled
And all my fears unravel
So simple when I was younger
But now I question my worth
Though my heart beats strong
There is doubt in my blood, in my bones
Like a song never sung
Like a night without morning
A promise undone
Rest your head on my shoulder
And I'll take care of your worries
It was you who promised this to me
It was you who offered me courage
In my darkest hour you can hear me
Softly question my travels
When doubt becomes me I'm troubled
And all my fears unravel
Do I seek to find disappointment
Do I write with a sense of shame
Like a bird on the ground
Who has injured its wing
I can no longer sing
I'm just waiting for
Someone to tell me
Again and again and again
Rest your head on my shoulder
And I'll take care of your worries
It was you who promised this to me
It was you who offered me courage
In my darkest hour you can hear me
Softly question my travels
When doubt becomes me I'm troubled
And all my fears unravel

A Little Bit Of
Rain
(Fred Neil cover / Everything Sings Out EP)
If I should leave you
Try to remember the good times
Warm days filled with sunshine
And just a little bit of rain
And just a little bit of rain
And if you look back
Try to forget all the bad times
Lonely blue and sad times
And just a little bit of rain
And just a little bit of rain
And if I look back
I'll remember the good times
Warm days filled with sunshine
And just a little bit of rain
And just a little bit of rain
And just a little bit

At Last
(Mack Gordon & Harry Warren cover / Everything Sings Out EP)
At last
My love has come along
And my lonely days are over
And life is like a song
At last
The skies above are blue
And my heart was wrapped in clover
The night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never ever known
Oh yeah
You smiled, you smiled
And then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine at last
For you are mine at last

By This River
(Brian Eno cover / One Of You For Me EP)
Here we are
Stuck by this river
You and I
Underneath a sky that's ever falling down, down, down
Ever falling down
Through the day
As if on an ocean
Waiting here
Always failing to remember why we came, came, came
I wonder why we came
You talk to me
As if from a distance
And I reply
With impressions chosen from another time, time, time
From another time

Not The Girl You
Think You Are
(Crowded House cover / Everything Sings Out EP)
You're not the girl you think you are
They're not his shoes under your bed
They take you places in his car
But you won't forget
And all the people that you know
Will turn their heads as you go by
But you'll be hard to recognize
With the top down and the wind blowing, blowing
He won't deceive you or tell you the truth
Woman, he'll be no trouble
And he won't write you letters full of excuses
Oh come on, believe you have one in a million
You're not the girl you think you are
And someone's standing in your place
And the bathroom mirror makes you look tall
But it's all in your head, it's all in your head
And he won't deceive you or tell you the truth
Woman, he'll be no trouble
And he won't write you letters full of excuses
Oh come on, believe you have one in a million
Oh he won't deceive you or tell you the truth
Woman, he'll be no trouble
And he won't write you letters full of excuses
Oh come on, believe you have one
Oh come on, believe you have one
Oh come on
Come on

Three Questions
(Bonnie "Prince" Billy cover / One Of You For Me EP)
Say I found a piece of rock
And put it in my pocket
And for the day that we are wed
I put it in a locket
Which is to hang around your neck
As long as you see fit
Tell me, oh my love
Do you think that you would wear it
And on the day that threatens
The earth might open up
The birds have stopped their singing
And the insects have shut up
And all that's left between us
Is some alhamdulillah
Would you split it with me, baby
So that I wouldn't die
And after all these things
Is a question I must ask
When everyone has called me out
And said I am the worst
And asked for voices on my side
My love, would you sing first
Would you say, she's okay
She's better than the rest
She's innocent in God's eyes
And in mine, she is the best
