B i o g r a p h y
 (by David Peter Wesolowski)

Necessity, so they say, is the mother of invention. Its a sentiment with which Zero 7, one of this decades musical sculptors par excellence, would doubtless concur. Having spent the best part of a year touring their last album, When It Falls, which, along the way, saw them transformed into a vast, super slick, group-like behemoth, Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker felt the need to create a new reality for their third album of beatific tales, The Garden. It wasnt that the When It Falls experience was a particularly negative one far from it, as Sam is at pains to point out, neither of us wants to cast a shadow over that record, but having done the extensive group thing, they both felt it was time to draw a line under that stage of their evolution and get back to basics. What this meant in essence was returning to the days of just Henry and Sam in a studio, bodging things a bit, and those things sticking on the record rather than being replaced by somebody else (Sam). This simpler, more relaxed and less pressured environment was also informed by Henrys move out of Londons sprawling metropolis. Having got twitchy in the capital, Henry upped sticks to the relative calm of Glastonbury the town, not the festival, he quickly states. There he built a studio (It was good not to think about music for a while) and kept in contact with Sam back in London. Hed call me every now and again, Sam recollects, and say, We havent got room for a vocal booth so well shut this door and therell be a curtain and whatever. And then last spring, with the pair of them cleansed and refreshed, work began in earnest on their third album when the last nail was hammered into the wall. Or was there no nails? asks Sam, mindful of the fact that it was chiefly Henrys DIY skills that pre-empted the venture. No, there were plenty of nails, Henry deadpans. Having mapped out rough ideas on the piano and guitar (I thought wed mess about and get some demos, explains Sam, but we just did it. Once you start, you start.), the music soon flowed. Unlike on When It Falls where they could call on the services of everything and anything, only having a limited amount of material at their disposal seemed to fire Zero 7s imagination.

You get what you can out of it, they both agree. It was a mood which would begin to shape the records bountiful flavours. And whereas the last record was perhaps a slight shift towards introspection lest we forget they were reacting to the inordinate success of their glorious, era-defining debut set, Simple Things planted firmly in The Garden was lots of vibrant light. The result is an unqualified success: instantly recognisable, and yet, beguilingly fresh, The Garden is a freewheeling and evocative piece of music. Benefiting from a more focused approach theres only two collaborators, long-time cohort Sia, and future folk sensation Jose Gonzales it clearly serves notice of Zero 7s talent for eking out sunshine-soaked ambient soul. From the gentle British folk tones of Left Behind to the mesmeric sonic tonic of This Fine Social Scene, there are thrills and spills aplenty at every turn. Your Place betrays a sly nod to the symphonic grandeur of David Axelrod and the jazz stylings of Roy Budd; the instrumental Seeing Things is all woozy, cinematic French electronica and the exotically titled The Pageant Of The Bizarre is nostalgic chamber pop. These are headed off by the opening assault of Futures (featuring Gonzales) all shimmering acoustics and Throw It All Away (featuring Sia) exuberant bluesy psychedelia which set the mood perfectly. It was just good being out of London, explains Sam. It was done during the summer; Sia and Jose would come and stay for a few days and there was no music biz bullshit. I was back on forth on the train every couple of days; it was expensive, although not as expensive as lunch in Notting Hill." I loved it. It all sounds like a nice hippy set up, and it was really. Thered always be a few people showing up, having BBQs two cats in the yard, laughs Henry. The Garden is also notable in that it marks the vocal debut of one Henry Binns. And while he doesnt want the record to be defined by such a fact I dont want to be talking about that for the next year it does add another personality to the mix. Thats him duetting on Throw It All Away, This Fine Social Scene and Waiting To Die, while he sings solo on Your Place. However, if theres one thing Henry and Sam dont want people to be confused by, its the albums title. Taken from the album artwork, which is a series of collages designed by a friend of theirs, entitled, spookily enough, The Garden, the duo are keen for the albums meaning not to get lost in translation. The collage is made up of old bits of wallpaper and other stuff thats been left behind or thrown away, its an overgrown and kind of mysterious garden I think maybe its about experience, Henry suggests. I think it makes something beautiful as well nothing to do with gardening though.

I Have Seen

Old man there people stare
Thinking back to God knows where
Always back to where he’s been
I have seen I have seen

Time goes so slow
Days come and go
But I know, yes I know

New born son
Life has won
Take this turn then he’ll run
Run away from all that’s been
I have done, I have seen

Time goes so slow
Days come and go
But I know, yes I know

Destiny

I lie awake
I’ve gone to ground
I’m watching porn
In my hotel dressing gown
Now I dream of you
But I still believe
There’s only enough for one in this
Lonely hotel suite

The journey’s long
And it feels  so bad
I’m thinking back to the last day we had.
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know I’ll be back with you
I’m nearly with you
I’m nearly with you

When I’m weak I draw strength from you
And when you’re lost I know how to change your mood
And when I’m down you breathe life over me
Even though we’re miles apart we are each other’s destiny

On a clear day
I’ll fly home to you
I’m bending time getting back to you
Old moon fades into the new
Soon I know I’ll be back with you
I’m nearly with you
I’m nearly with you

When I’m weak I draw strength from you
And when you’re lost I know how to change your mood
And when I’m down you breathe life over me
Even though we’re miles apart we are each other’s destiny

When I’m weak I draw strength from you
And when you’re lost I know how to change your mood
And when I’m down you breathe life over me
Even though we’re miles apart we are each other’s destiny

I’ll fly, I’ll fly home
I’ll fly home and I’ll fly home

Simple Things

It’s an easy ride to roam
You’ll never walk alone
Natuarally we blew
Simple things we say
Everyday we find the way

Seems like we’ve opened up the door
Feels like we’ve walked this way before
Natuarally we blew
Simple things you say
Everyday you'll find the way
It amazes
Everyday

Distractions

Fancy a big house
Some kids and a horse
I can not quite, but nearly
Guarantee, a divorce
I think that I love you
I think that I do
So go on mister, make Miss me Mrs you.

I love you, I love you, I love you, I do
I only make jokes to distract myself
From the truth, from the truth.

Fancy a fast car
A bag full of loot
I can nearly guarantee
You’ll end up with the boot

I love you, I love you, I love you , I do
I only make jokes to distract myself
From the truth, from the truth.
I love you, I love you, I love you , I do
I only make jokes to distract myself
From the truth, from the truth.

In the waiting line

( vocals by Sophie Barker )

Wait in line
‘Till your time
Ticking clock
Everyone stop

Everyone's saying different things to me
Different things to me
Everyone's saying different things to me
Different things to me

Woooohh
Do you believe
In what you see
There doesn't seem to be anybody else who agrees with me

Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe in
What you see

Nine to five
Living lies
Everyday
Stealing time
Everyone's taking everything they can
Everything they can
Everyone's taking everything they can
Everything they can

Woooohh
Do you believe
In what you feel
It doesn't seem to be anybody else who agrees with me

Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe
In what you see

Ah and I’ll shout and I’ll scream
But I’d rather not have seen
And i'll hide away for another day

Do you believe
In what you see
Motionless wheel
Nothing is real
Wasting my time
In the waiting line
Do you believe
In what you see

Everyone's saying different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Different things to me
Everyone's taking everything they can
Everything they can

This World

Another child is born
Another race is won
Another dream is shattered
Another day has begun

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah’s boat
We’ve only lost the vision
Of the stars we’re meant to be

Another broken heart
Another lesson learnt
Another harvest eaten
Another night is gone
A new day’s begun
Even your dreams they can be real

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah’s boat
We’ve only lost the vision
Of the stars we’re meant to be

This world is still afloat
No not in Noah’s boat
We’ve only lost the vision
Of the stars we’re meant to be

This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope
This world is full of love
We still have hope

Spinning

Was it loneliness that brought you here
Broken and weak
Was it tiredness that made you sleep
Have you lost your will to speak
Was the earth spinning round
Were you falling through the ground
As the world came tumbling down
You prayed to God what have we done

Free me from these chains I need to change my way
Heal these broken wings I need to fly far away, far away, far away

Was it emptiness that made you weep
No more secrets to keep
Was it bitterness that gave you time
To forgive your sins
Was the earth spinning round
Were you falling through the ground
As the world came tumbling down
You prayed to God what have we done

Free me from these chains I need to change my way
Heal these broken wings I need to fly far away
Free me from these thoughts long forgotten down below
Take these angel’s words give them life to carry on, carry on, carry on
Free me from these chains…

When it falls

Warms sound

Faith sealer
I don't feel you
Don't hear you speak

Maybe
Someone else will
Help you to see

Warm sounds
Falling slowly
Takes the time away from me
Warm sounds
Feeling no pain
Taking the time away from me

Fake feeler
I see through you
With my eyes closed

Warm sounds
Falling slowly
Takes the time away from me
Warm sounds
Feeling no pain
Taking the time away from me

They can't tell me
What they can't see
How it feels here
Just how it feels here
Just how it feels here ...

Home

Lost in cheap delirium
Searching the neon lights
I move carefully
Sink in the city aquarium
Sing in the key of night
As they're watching me

Take me somewhere we can be alone
Make me somewhere I can call a home
'Cause lately I've been losing my own

Wrapped in silent elegance
Beautifully broken down
As illusions burst
Too late to learn from experience
Too late to wonder how
To finish first

Take me somewhere we can be alone
Make me somewhere I can call a home
'Cause lately I've been losing my own

Take me somewhere we can be alone
Make me somewhere I can call a home
Won't you take me home
Won't you take me home
'Cause lately I've been losing my own
Won't you take me home

Somersault

You're the prince to my ballerina
You feed other people's parking meters
You encourage the eating of ice cream
You would somersault in sand with me

You talk to loners, you ask how's your week
You give love to all and give love to me
You're obsessed with hiding the sticks and stones
When I feel the unknown
You feel like home, you feel like home

You put my feet back on the ground
Did you know you brought me around
You were sweet and you were sound
You saved me

You're the warmth in my summer breeze
You're the ivory to my ebony keys
You would share your last jelly bean
You would somersault in sand with me

You put my feet back on the ground
Did you know you brought me around
You were sweet and you were sound
You saved me

You put my feet back on the ground
Did you know you brought me around
You were sweet and you were sound
See I had shrunk yet still you wore me around
And 'round and 'round

Passing by

I don't think you love me
Confusion settling in
I don't think I'll be staying
Around here, anymore

There's no question that I love you
But I'm living in my own time
And here I am debating
Whether I'm wrong, or right

Who am I
To make a judgement of
Your life
I'm only
Passing by
Passing by

All the promises I gave you
Helped me to survive
And all the times I wished you'd save me
You were the love of my life

Who am I
To make a judgement of
Your life
I'm only
Passing by
Passing by

Who am I
To make a judgement of
Your life
I'm only
Passing by
Passing by

Who am I
To make a judgement of
Your life
I'm only
Passing by
Passing by

I'm only passing by ...

Over our heads

Close your eyes
Can't you see it's burning slow
Fading down the sparks of fire earth bound
Space in two
Warm beyond the love below
Close your eyes
It's time for us to go

Over our heads
Lightkeeps passing through
Over our heads
Lite from me to you

Falling down
Way beneath the healing skies
Rise and shine
The crying times left behind

Over our heads
All we see is true
Over our heads
Can't you see it too

Over our heads
Lightkeeps passing through
Over our heads
Lite from me to you

The space between

Now that you're older
Taking the time to look
Back over your shoulder
On the days confusion took

Now that you're wiser
Surely you've learned to read it
You should know
No surface shines brighter
Than the light that burns beneath it

Never so sure
We always take more
Though we still don't know what it's for

Now that I've seen you
Stripped to the very core
I know that I need you
Less than I did before

Never so sure
We always take more
Though we still don't know what it's for

Speed Dial N°2

I don't need you anymore
I'm okay and I am sure
I don't need you anymore
Yeah I'm ok, I'm reassured

And I don't need you not today
I promise I'll call I promise I'll say
I don't need you not to stay
And if you ever need me I'll reciprocate

Your shoulders in my pocket
Speed dial N°2
See you when I need you
See you when I do
See you when I do

Do you need me, I am here
Can you ask, can you be clear
Yes you need me, I appear
Now you are me, I am here

My shoulders in your pocket
Speed dial N°2
Call it when you need me
See you when I do
See you when I do

Call me when you need me
Just call me when you need me

Call me when you need me
See you when I do

In time

All the words are calling
Got time on my own
There's no destination
Wondering whether I'll feel it again

Keep my hands off the wheel
'Cause there's nowhere else to go

Take some time
Just hang around awhile
Like to sit this silent moment out
I don't want to lose or let you down
Time's just gonna change itself around

The autumn leaves are falling
Falling down on me
And there's nothing I can do
And there's nothing I can say
That's gonna change the way I feel

Keep my hands off the wheel
'Cause there's nowhere else to go

Take some time
Just hang around awhile
Like to sit this silent moment out
I don't want to lose or let you down
Time's just gonna change itself around

Take this time
Just hang around awhile
Like to sit this silent moment out
I don't wanna lose or let you down
Time's just gonna change itself
Change itself around

I feel it's true
All alone without you
I feel it's true
'Cause you're running with the wind
And you're running with your life
Won't you come inside

Keep my hands off the wheel
'Cause there's nowhere else to go

Take some time
Just hang around awhile
Like to sit this silent moment out
I don't want to lose or let you down
Time's just gonna change itself around

Morning song

Days behold lives unfold
Can't move on so much untold
Shades of gold we've been sold
Been deceived while we believe

If today is all we see
Then tomorrow seems to me
Is just an elusion we believe

Strive to see hope to be
To be some small part of eternity

If today is all we see
Then tomorrow seems to me is
Just an elusion we believe

The Garden

Futures

Made a note of it
Did you write it on your hand
Put a name on it
To help you understand

Well do you see
The futures holidays are for me
Just let me know
Where we go after the fall

Like the sound of it
Gonna hang it on your wall
Turn and run with it
For the sake of one and all
Where you go, nobody knows

Well do you see
The futures holidays are for me
Just let me know
Where to go
Where you go after the fall

Throw It All Away

Try talking to you
While you do, while you do
I swap places with you
Just to see things through
Just sing me the tune
And you'll see
I'll keep it here for you
I'll wait for your cue

You wrote down all the words
Black and white
On a wall
Just keepin' it so
Yeah you know how it goes
No plans for a change, nothing strange
No not today no way
Now sing me the tune

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

So you twist and you turn
Uncomfortable fool, you'll never learn
But you can take a stand
Forget all about the plans california rose

Side one track two
On a record of you
I've even stuck on a groove
That I don't wanna lose
Just play it again, as a friend
It's your favorite worn-in shoes
Now sing me the tune

Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah
Never needed any of it anyway

So you crash, and you burn
Sometimes the road will twist and turn
Some of this, less of that
Forget all about the map california road

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah
Never needed any of it anyway

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

The Pageant Of The Bizarre

It's never gonna be
Normal, you and me
What you're signing on for
Is a storm at sea

So if you think you're tough
Give me all your love
And I'll give you every little piece of me

Catch a falling star you'll go far
In the pageant of the bizarre
And tonight I give you my heart

Catch a falling star you'll go far
In the pageant of the bizarre
And tonight I give you my heart

We will never be a nuclear family
But a rainbow will begin at our feet
And if you take my hand
Beware that this boat can
Run aground making the ocean floor weep

Catch a falling star you'll go far
In the pageant of the bizarre
And tonight I give you my heart

Catch a falling star you'll go far
In the pageant of the bizarre
And tonight I give you my heart

Catch a falling star you'll go far
In the pageant of the bizarre
And tonight I give you my heart

Catch a falling star you'll go far
In the pageant of the bizarre
And tonight I give you my heart

Take a chance on me, yeah
You're my remedy, yeah

You may fall indeed, yeah
You'll find peace with me, yeah

Take a chance on me, yeah
You're my remedy, yeah

You may fall indeed, yeah
You'll find peace with me, yeah
Peace with me, yeah

Take a chance on me, yeah
You're my remedy, yeah

You may fall indeed, yeah
You'll find peace with me, yeah

You're My Flame

You take a stroll into the morning sun
You make a Happy Meal a portion for one

You steal the wallet of a man with a gun
You make this seem like a whole lot of fun
Yeah you do

You'll make new shapes with your hands on a wall
You're driving a nail while you're taking a call
You wouldn't care if you had nothing at all
Instead of chasing the dream
You're just chasing a ball
Yeah you are

You're just dodging all the friendly fire
You're never dressed in the right attire
You miss the start of every game
You're my flame

You make hay when the sun don't shine
You don't need a dollar, you don't need a dime
You burn at both ends yet still you're fine
You're my flame

Teach me to haggle
I'll teach you to swim
Get right back on the saddle
Push me on a swing

Take me to Rio
I'll take you to Berlin
I'll give you some yarn
And you'll give it some spin
Yes you will

Now you're sitting sure, yes, in an old tree
You've tied our legs, and so now we have three
You dip your toes into the ice cold sea
I see your reflection, your reflection is me
Yes I am

You're just dodging all the friendly fire
You're never dressed in the right attire
You miss the start of every game
You're my flame

You make hay when the sun don't shine
You don't need a dollar, you don't need a dime
You burn at both ends yet still you're fine
You're my flame

You're my flame
You're my flame
You're my flame

You're my flame
You're my flame
You're my flame

Left Behind

Cleaning up the things she left behind
Are you on to find some peace of mind
Are you aware of the mess you left behind

Scared to think away the cheer
Looking back in a mirror
It all becomes clear
The views are not the same
I see sun, you see rain

Cleaning up the mess you left behind

Today

Sirens sounding out, are we going to war
A film of yesterday on a broken down door
Send me something real to ignore or explore
And I'll show you all the things that I saw

Today
The words don't mean enough for us to say
For us to say
Today
To steal the moment that we gave away
We gave away
Gave it away

Can't remember when, but it's happened before
Saw it all played out through a crack in the door
Send me something good for the way that I feel
And I'll show you all the things that I've seen

Today
The words don't mean enough for us to say
For us to say
Today
To steal the moment that we gave away
We gave away

Today
We are the light that travels into space
Into space

We are the light that travels into space
We are the light that travels into space
We are the light that travels into space
We are the light that travels into space
We are the light that travels into space

This Fine Social Scene

Blossom lipped ladies and men with a gleam in their eyes
Fat happy babies sit on their born thin mother's thighs
Picture a vow
Picture well

I couldn't see the cracks in this fine social scene
I couldn't find the fault with this whole pantomime

All others laughing the jokes by the host
He's no man

All others dancing in couples to these session bands
Wearing smiles
Hot colt 45s

I couldn't see the cracks in this fine social scene
I couldn't find the fault with this whole pantomime

Your Place

What do you do when you're in your place
What's going through your whirling mind
I wish I could see inside of your place
It looks like a better place than mine
Numbers divine
You have to find

If I Can't Have You

Have you ever wondered
If it smarts when you've hurt and ignored
Oh, the sort that goes away
Even though I waited for you
Oh, how I adore you

You never saw my face
I traced your path each day
We could be always together

Now I watch you bleed
You had all I need
How I love you so
Now we'll never know
If I can't have you

I even did the research
Went to work, learned to flirt
Wore a skirt and faced dirt
And, ah, still you didn't notice
You never focused on me

You never saw my face
I traced your path each day
You never lifted your eyes to me, ah

Now I watch you bleed
You had all I need
How I love you so
Now we'll never know
If I can't have you

If I can't have you
If I can't have you
If I can't have you

Crosses

Don't you know that I'll be around to guide you
Through your weakest moments to leave them behind you
Returning nightmares, only shadows

We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now

Crosses all over, heavy on your shoulders
The sirens inside me waiting to step forward
Disturbing silence darkens your sight

We'll cast some light and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now

Crosses all over the boulevard
Crosses all over the boulevard
Crosses all over the boulevard
Crosses all over the boulevard

The streets outside your window overflooded
People staring, they know you've been broken
Repeatedly reminded by the looks on their faces
Ignore them tonight and you'll be alright

We'll cast some light and you'll be alright

Waiting To Die

It's just a day like any other day
A beautiful day for an accident, let's say
Yes it's just a day, like any other day
Just one step closer to the end of the buffet
La la la la la la
La la la la, 'cause we're waiting to die

Now it's a good time for a tasty glass of wine
Let's not burden our minds with carbon dioxide
And everyone hurry, don't sit and abide
Yes, everyone stand up, we're running out of time
La la la la la la
La la la la, 'cause we're waiting here to die

Look what a terrible mess that we've made
The sun beats us down as we search for the shade
And, yes, it is true, death is everyone's fate
But we've made it this far, it's time to celebrate
La la la la la
La la la la, 'cause we're waiting here to die
La la la la la
La la la la, 'cause we're waiting here to die

Yeah Ghost

Mr McGee

I made my head touch my hands
And it's right on me, yeah
I touched the night now it's gone
Felt it right on me, yeah

I'm running hard and the dust
Now it's right on me, yeah
I'm riding blind
And these words are all over me, yeah

Oh, lost them in a forest
Oh, dawn is almost on us
Oh, spell is getting stronger
Oh

'Cause my mama's and my daddy's
The wishing that I'm wishing too
Down the well there's nothing that wet
And it's all in my head
Hear what I heard
If I didn't dream I don't care

I'm thinking of your style
I know that spell even the way that you
You gimme what I want
That kinda think and that feeling
So right
Feels good
Still feel it
On me
I feel
It's on me
Sorry

I've worked these hands
And prepared now it's right on me

Oh, lost them in a forest
Oh, dawn is almost on us
Oh, spell is getting stronger
Oh

'Cause my mama's and my daddy's
The wishing that I'm wishing too
Down the well there's nothing that wet
And it's all in my head
Hear what I heard
If I didn't dream I don't care

That kinda think and that feeling
So right
Feels good
Still feel it
On me
I feel
It's on me
Sorry

Swing

Thought you'd be forever the same
When did you become so easy to change
Can't elect who I want
No, that's not true

I do know
Just can't figure out how to pin him down
There will be no unguarded kisses
Let go of my hand when they're around

They say I'm unsound, but what do they know
They can't figure out how to get us down

Soon enough I won't care
So stay in my arms if you dare
You can't romanticize the crazy
We'll only let you down
And try to figure out
How to keep you down
They're all alone
I will keep you down

Everything Up

Mauritania to Wilsden Green
The truth is faster than a lazer beam
Cross the table and the Seven Seas
It's colouring, colouring everything

With a mirror and a steady hand
We can remedy a broken band
Turn it round like Zinedine Zidane
Yes we can imagine if you can
Well, well, well...

Spot the difference if you can, come on
Catch a fire inside your hand
It's burning deeper like moody man
One oh one oh one oh one come on

Murakami would've told you so
If you catch him will you let me know
I'm bobbing apples in the studio
Aikido, aikido si-do

Parties in full swing
Turn up everything

Cross the table and the Seven Seas
It's coming faster than a Lazer Beam
Spot the difference if you can
It's colouring, colouring everything

Turn it round if you can
Yes we can, imagine if we can
Yes we can, imagine if we can
Turn it round like Zinedine Zidane
Yes we can, imagine if we can
Yes we can, imagine if we can...

Pop Art Blue

Yeah we are running and how we are running
Across the hills in the pop art blue
Buzzers fly above the car
Circling us as if they knew

If I fall down if I fall down
Darling will you reel me in
If I lose it, if I lose it
Will you remind where we've been

So we were climbing and how we were climbing
The cartoon trees up to the sky
As the sun drops off the page
Goldy flew into my eye

Well it's all up from here
It's like I can taste opportunity near
I cut myself on barbwire getting wood for the fire
I was too busy staring at you
You

So then we were floating up
We were floating like particles into the night
High above the factories
We hitched a lift on a satellite
Lover will you spin me round
May we never fall back to ground

Well it's all up from here
It's like I can taste opportunity near
I cut myself on barbwire
Getting wood for the fire
I was too busy staring at you

Well it's all up from here
It's like I can taste opportunity near
I cut myself on barbwire
Getting wood for the fire
I was too busy staring at you

I was too busy staring at you
???
Getting wood for the fire
Into your eyes
I was too busy staring at you...

Medicine man

Keep on keeping on
Keep on keeping on...

Underrated, overrated up and down in here
I always thought I was the one who got to run the bill
Now I can't seem to get it off of my mind
Losing my grip because I think about it all the time

Making up the stories is the type of thing that you do
Outrageous, simply outrageous
Forget about your merits or the methods that you're used to
Outrageous, simply outrageous

Fixing up the potions like a medicine man
Stirring my emotions ‘cause I know when you know love you can
Leave me open, halfway maybe I can heal myself
You just seem to keeping on keep it up

Keep on keeping on
Keep on keeping on
You just keep on
Keep on keeping on
Keep on keeping on
You just keep on
Keep on keeping on
Keep on keeping on

I must admit that I've been up and down just like a yo-yo
Roller coaster of love, didn't know where the heck did I go
Feels like you're under my skin
Man said love, couldn't remember how it all began

Making up the stories is the type of thing that you do
Outrageous, simply outrageous
Forget about your merits or the methods that you're used to
Contagious, simply outrageous

Fixing up the potions like a medicine man
Stirring my emotions ‘cause I know with your love you can
Baby, open halfway maybe I can heal myself
Keep on, keep it up

Forget about it, forget about it, the medicine you're used to
Fixing up the potions, that's your miracle babe
Stirring my emotions ‘cause I know that you know you can
Leave me hoping, halfway baby I can heal myself

You just keep on, doing what you do
Keep on, keeping on

I'm onto your plan mister medicine man
I'm onto your plan mister medicine man
I'm onto your plan mister medicine man
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Ghost symbol

Wherever i'm staying, you're going away
I learned to part with a smile on my face
Now I'm too good at letting go
Too easy to say no

*** Thanx a lot to Alexey for this one ***

Sleeper

Hey! Ho! How you been
Got my second wind
I see, what they're in
Hello, hey out there

Be sure, what you hear
Check your eyes
Check your ears
TV will disguise
Radio never lies

I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on
I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on
I've seen the audio visual trying to make up my mind for me
I won't sleep, I keep the radio on
Giving me something so familiar wanna turn off the light, alright
I won't sleep, I keep the radio on
Will you be my friend until the middle of night
I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on

Heard it close
In the night
But I know
Deep inside
I'm painting pictures in my mind

Radio on, the radio off, the radio on
Radio on, the radio off, the radio on

Switch

Radio on, the radio off, the radio on
Radio on, the radio off, the radio on
Keep the radio on, keep the stereo on, keep the radio on

I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on
I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on
I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on
Will you be my friend until the middle of the night
I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on
I won't sleep, k-keep the radio on

Heard it close
In the night
But I know
Deep inside
I'm painting pictures in my mind

The Road

Oh dawn broke
Heavy rains made it hard to load
Is it time for the road
I don't know, don't know

Father has gone
So let's go home to baby's head
And I won't let go of your hand
Child of mine

When it's time to let go
Then we'll be up in heaven's ground
Every dream that I dream
Let you have more than mine
Spirits will climb into a time of your design
All that I know never will be told
Oh child of mine

After the flight, dead of the night
Oh we'll be peaceful
Sweet laughter goes, all of a sudden
No time for waiting

So I'm off on the road that I see might be coming
And those dreams that I hold, all for this child of mine
All that I know, never will it show, sweet child of mine
All that I know, never will be told, oh child of mine

Sweet child of mine
Oh, child

Don't Call It Love

(12" version / On My Own EP)

Tom Leonard:

Blame it on the streetlights
The fingernail moonlight
The way that you kissed me
How your face hid the moon

Blame it on the twilight
The waning of the daylight
The way you held my hand
How you never would let go

But, baby, don't get caught up
Don't surrender to touch
You can say anything
Your heart's dreaming of

But don't call it love
Call it a longing
call it a yearning
Don't call it love
Call it a sweet dream
Don't say nothing

It's like a beautiful car crash
Where two people collide and
Nobody gets hurt and
Noone's left behind

And when I dive into your light
We swim past the riptide
And maybe this is everything
Yeah, that we've been waiting for

But, baby, don't get caught up
Don't surrender to touch
You can say anything
Your heart's dreaming of

But don't call it love
Call it a longing
Call it a yearning
Don't call it love
Call it a sweet dream
Don't say nothing

Don't call it love
Call it a longing
Call it a yearning
Don't call it love
Call it a sweet dream
And don't say nothing
Don't say nothing
Don't say nothing at all
Don't, don't say nothing
Nothing

Don't call it love

Don't say nothing at all
Don't say nothing, nothing

Don't call it love

On My Own

(12" version / On My Own EP)

Danny Pratt:

Imporous and she hides her pores
She'd sing my voice to anyone
She bore my teeth in lover's creed
Differently to anyone

There's just no way of leaving
It's midnight in a perfect world
Stay with me
And we can have it all

She flatters to deceive me
While lonely creatures gather round
Hand in hand
Trying not to fall

What will it take for me to learn
From my mistakes
Before this reputation takes me down
When will I learn to go home
To my fears
Before this reputation takes me down

I'm in love
I'm in love
On my own

I'm in love
In love
On my own

I'm in love
I'm in love
On my own

I'm in love
In love
On my own

I fell in love in a bathroom stall
I said I've never felt like this before
Like the night was ours, the wolves had gone
She grinned at me and said I'm yours

She needs me, I'm not leaving
Speaks to me in perfumed words
Indiscrete
Echos from the walls

If only you could see me
Dancing with the perfect girl
Cheek to cheek,
Trying not to fall

What will it take for me to learn
From my mistakes
Before this reputation takes me down
When will I learn to go home
To my fears
Before this reputation takes me down

I'm in love
I'm in love
On my own
On my own

I'm in love
In love
On my own

I'm in love
I'm in love
On my own
On my own

I'm in love
In love
On my own

In love
I'm in love
On my own

I'm in love
I'm in love
On my own

I'm in love
In love
On my own

I'm in love
I'm in love
On my own

I'm in love
In love
On my own

I'm in love
On my own
On my own
On my own
On my own

On my own

Take Me Away

(12" version)

Only Girl:

Hold me and never let go
Love me, I'm ready to show
Love, let me hold you
Love, let me hold you

Heart beat
Don't ever slow
Falling and flying
I'm flying and falling
I'm not afraid
Long as you never leave me
Long as you stay

So take me away
Take me away
Take me away
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Search me and I'll let you see
You hold the best part of me
Love, let me breathe you
Love, let me breathe you

Heart beat
Don't ever slow
Falling and flying
I'm flying and falling
I'm not afraid
Long as you never leave me
Long as you stay

So take me away
Take me away
Take me away
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

So take me away
Take me away
Take me away
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Love me
Heart beat
Don't ever slow
Love me
I'm ready to show
Heart beat
Don't ever slow
Love me

The Colour Of Spring

(Talk Talk cover / Spirit Of Talk Talk LP)

Only Girl:

Forget our fate
The pedlar sings
Set up to sell my soul
I've lived a life for wealth to bring

And yet I'll gaze
The colour of spring
Immerse in that one moment
Left in love to everything

Soar the bridges
That I burnt before
One song among us all

Truth & Rights

(Johnny Osbourne cover / Late Night Tales: Another Late Night LP)

Yvonne John Lewis:

Children, run come the truths and rights
That's what I'm about
You know the truths and rights
Teach it to the children
Run come the truths and rights
That's what I'm about
You know the truths and rights
Teach it to the children
